Form 990, Part III Program Service Accomplishments

Preeclampsia foundation: 2024 impact statement saving lives and improving outcomes for mothers and babies in 2024, the preeclampsia foundation continued its unwavering mission to reduce maternal and infant illness and death due to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. With a clear focus on health equity, patient empowerment, and research advancement, we made transformational progress across four strategic pillars: educate, engage, equip, and elevate. Educate: we reached hundreds of thousands of patients and professionals with critical, life-saving information. Over 318,000 patient education materials were distributed, arming families with the knowledge they need to advocate for themselves. Simultaneously, we trained more than 4,000 healthcare providers and community health workers, ensuring early detection and proper management of preeclampsia in diverse clinical settings. Engage: with 127 patient family partner quality improvement engagements, we deepened our commitment to patient-centered care and lived experience integration. These collaborations bridged gaps between the healthcare system and the real-life experiences of families affected by preeclampsia, driving innovations in how care is delivered for all pregnant and postpartum mothers. Equip: tackling disparities in maternal health head-on, we provided 24,000 self-measured blood pressure cuff kits to new and expectant moms at particularly high risk for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. These kits empower women to monitor their health and recognize warning signs early. In addition, we launched our online expert directory, connecting patients to top-tier preeclampsia specialists nationwidean essential step in improving access to quality care. Elevate: our advocacy and research initiatives flourished. We funded $260,000 in research grants, catalyzing new discoveries and advancing the science of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. Participation in the preeclampsia registry grew by 675 individuals, bringing the total to nearly 10,000 - a vital resource for researchers and a testament to the power of shared experience. These accomplishments reflect our values of science-driven impact, inclusive care, and relentless advocacy. We are proud to be a guidestar platinum-rated nonprofit, recognized for our transparency and effectiveness. Your support enables us to continue this life-saving work. Together, we can ensure that no mother or baby is lost to a condition that is detectable, treatable, and - ultimately - will be preventable. Join us. Save lives. Change futures.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The foundation is a not-for-profit organization that is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. No provision has been made for income taxes for the year ended december 31, 2024. Fasb asc 740, income taxes, prescribes a recognition threshold and measurement attribute of the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. Management evaluates the foundations tax positions on an annual basis, both past and current. If management determines that a past or current tax position is uncertain then a tax liability is calculated to represent the increase in taxes anticipated upon examination. As of december 31, 2024, management has determined that all past and current tax positions were likely to be realizable and sustainable upon examination and that the calculation of a tax liability was not necessary. Tax years ended december 31, 2021 through 2023 remain subject to possible examination by the internal revenue service.
