Mission
Sit and be fit is an exercise program committed to improve the quality of life for senior and/or physically limited individuals by providing a foundation to remain functionally fit and independent.
Sit and be fit is a non-profit organization committed to healthy aging advocacy. We believe everyone has the right to feel good and age well. We empower people to improve their lives through safe, effective, media-based health and wellness programming.

| SIT AND BE FIT IS A MEDIA-BASED ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES HEALTH AGING AND FITNESS BY TEACHING GENTLE, MEDICALLY SOUND EXERCISES TO OLDER ADULTS, THOSE MANAGING CHRONIC CONDITIONS AND THOSE WITH PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS. SIT AND BE FIT ALSO SERVES AS A RESOURCE FOR CAREGIVERS, FITNESS EXPERTS AND HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS. DURING THE YEAR 2018, SIT AND BE FIT ACCOMPLISHED THE FOLLOWING:TELEVISION SERIESSIT AND BE FIT PRODUCED 20 NEW TELEVISION EPISODES DURING THE SUMMER OF 2018. THE FIRST 10 EPISODES, THE 1700 SERIES, WERE RELEASED AT THE END OF 2018. THE REMAINING 10 EPISODES, THE 1800 SERIES, WERE RELEASED IN JUNE, 2019. A TOTAL OF 130 HD AND 220 SD SYNDICATED SIT AND BE FIT TV EPISODES AIR THROUGHOUT THE PUBLIC TELEVISION NETWORK AVERAGING 44,000 AIRINGS PER YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, THE SERIES AIRS IN AN UNDETERMINED NUMBER OF GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY ACCESS CABLE STATIONS.HOME DVD/VHS PRODUCTSIN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 1700 AND 1800 PRODUCTION, SIT AND BE FIT PRODUCED TWO NEW DVD WORKOUTS. THE NEUROPATHY WORKOUT WAS RELEASED IN JUNE 2019 AND THE LYMPHATIC HEALTH WORKOUT WILL BE RELEASED IN THE FALL OF 2019. THE LIBRARY OF SIT AND BE FIT WORKOUT DVDS CONTINUE TO SERVE COMMUNITIES AND POPULATIONS WHERE THE SERIES IS NOT AVAILABLE. THESE RESOURCES ARE SIMILARLY USED BY HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN VARIOUS SETTINGS INCLUDING SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES, SENIOR CENTERS AND HOSPITALS.COMMUNITY RESOURCEIN 2018, THE SIT AND BE FIT STAFF RESPONDED PERSONALLY TO HUNDREDS OF INQUIRIES ABOUT EXERCISE AND WORKOUTS THAT ADDRESS SPECIFIC HEALTH NEEDS. HUNDREDS OF FREE HEALTH AND FITNESS HANDOUTS FROM THE SIT AND BE FIT RESOURCE LIBRARY WERE DISPERSED. LIKEWISE, PRINT MATERIALS FROM OTHER HEALTH AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS WERE DISSEMINATED - INCLUDING RESOURCES FROM THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSOCIATION, OSTEOPOROSIS DETECTION CENTER AND THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES. COMPLIMENTARY SIT AND BE FIT DVDS WERE DONATED TO FACILITIES AND INDIVIDUALS NOT ABLE TO PURCHASE PRODUCTS DUE TO ECONOMIC HARDSHIP.CONTINUING EDUCATION CORRESPONDENCE COURSEHUMAN KINETICS CONTINUES TO PUBLISH AND ADMINISTER A CONTINUING EDUCATION CORRESPONDENCE COURSE AUTHORED BY SIT AND BE FIT, TITLED CHAIR EXERCISE BASICS. WEBSITESIT AND BE FIT ADDED THE STREAMING CLUB TO THE NEW WORDPRESS BASED WEBSITE. APPROXIMATELY 131,000 UNIQUE VISITORS POPULATE THE WWW.SITANDBEFIT.ORG WEBSITE WHERE THEY CAN FIND HEALTH AND FITNESS TIPS AS WELL AS INFORMATION ABOUT WHERE/WHEN SIT AND BE FIT AIRS AND ADDITIONAL RESOURCES.
