To educate the public about the natural and cultural history of Washingtons Pacific Coast and inspire the joy and wonder of nature. The Coastal Interpretive Center considers Washington Pacific Coast to include the area from the Columbia River northward to Cape Flattery and eastward from the continental shelf to watersheds draining into the Pacific Ocean.

| The Coastal Interpretive Center has developed a reputation for providing experiences, interpretive information, and education to all ages. Many visitors come to enjoy the beach area. But, after visiting the Interpretive Center, they leave with a much greater appreciation of the nature and environment that surrounds Ocean Shores and the Washington Coast in general. This type of learning experience prompts more word-of-mouth promotion and local tourist referrals from hotels for return visits. Furthermore, the Center is able to provide indoor experiences throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions. In 2019 over 15,000 visitors enjoyed the experiences.The Center works closely with the local school district in providing educational opportunities. The PhD scientist and forestry expert volunteers have created classroom modules on salmon and local forestry information. After classroom presentations the students experience field trips to the salmon hatchery for studies on spawning and local rain forests for real time forestry experiences. Other outreach to regional school districts have been science expert led guided tours of local beaches and tide pools. Schools as far away as Lacey Washington have brought students. In 2019 the Center facility was open to the public seven days per week, 10:00 am 4:00 pm, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Off-season hours of operation are Saturday and Sunday, also 10:00 to 4:00. The Center is open additional days off-season to accommodate holiday schedules, participate in major visitor events in the community, and provide field trips and tours.In lieu of an admission fee, the Center accepts visitor donations. This allows the Center to provide its programs to all visitors regardless of economic status.The Board of Directors provides strategic planning efforts and direct, hands-on management supervision for staff; and a very enthusiastic cadre of volunteers contributes countless hours to the successful operation of the Center. | $48,126 | - |
