The draft copy of 990 was reviewed by the audit committee of the board. The final copy of 990 was distributed to the board prior to its filing.”

“The conflict of interest policy is signed by directors, officers, and key employees of the organization annually. The board of directors and the audit committee review the conflict of interest statements. If a potential conflict exists, it is resolved by the vote of the board of directors or executive committee. Any interested person shall abstain during such vote. Any committee decision is reported to the full board. After full disclosure is made, the board, the executive or finance committee have the right to authorize to do business with the vendor in conflict or not.”

“Help usa has a compensation committee which is used to determine the salaries of its employees. The compensation committee uses comparable data to determine compensation. They review and make recommendations to the full board for approval including base salary and other significant terms of employment of the president and chief executive officer, vice president, senior management. The committee has sole authority to retain and terminate outside counsel and retain compensation consultants to assist the committee in determining the compensation of the president and chief executive officer or senior executive officers, as it deems appropriate. The board level discussions are included in the board minutes.”

Help usa's housing models include transitional housing for homeless adults, families, victims of domestic violence, and veterans; and permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless, low-income, and special-needs adults and families, including veterans. Help usa is also a provider of social services targeted to residents in its housing programs as well as members of the communities we serve. Help usa's programs currently serve more than 25,000 homeless and low-income individuals annually and have helped over 375,000 men, women, and children over the past 30 years.”

“In the past year we began operating a new transitional shelter site for single adult men with mental illnesses. This shelter is located in the meyer building on wards island, and is a partnership between the state of new york, the city of new york, help usa and nyc health and hospitals. The program currently serves two hundred men and provides housing, case management, behavioral health and primary care all on-site.”
