Activity 2

Policy and advocacy - building changes' policy and advocacy efforts are directed toward systems-wide changes that prevent, reduce the duration of, and mitigate the impact of homelessness on vulnerable populations in washington state. Working with partners across systems such as child welfare, employment, and education, we identify key policy initiatives or targets of change, pursue fixes, and influence long-term policy agendas that result in more efficient homeless and housing systems.

Activity 3

Housing and client services - we provided 86 units of housing to people with hiv/aids in seattle and king county. In 2009, building changes made a strategic decision to discontinue providing direct housing services to people with hiv/aids to focus on the broader issue of ending homelessness. In 2012, building changes transferred all housing related assets and liabilities to other non-profit organizations in line with this earlier strategic decision and to assure that housing for people living with hiv/aids would remain available in our community. Building changes, by virtue of prior legal agreements, did not and was not meant to benefit from these housing assets.
