The internal affairs committee chaired by the treasurer/secretary reviews the audit and 990 with the audit firm hired by the board and management. The draft audit and 990 are presented by the audit firm at a board of directors meeting for final review and approval.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

PAVE is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3). In addition, the Organization qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and has been classified as an organization that is a public charity under Section 509(a)(1). The Organization's income tax filings are subject to examination by various taxing authorities. The Organization believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken and, as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements.

IRS990/Desc0Parent Training and Information (PTI) Center (funded through a grant from the Department of Education since 1981) works to help parents, youth, and professionals understand and advocate for individuals with disabilities in the public education system in Washington State. The PTI's current 5 year grant cycle began in 2014. During this fiscal year we increased the family, professional and youth contacts from 12,478 to 14,502. We provided 27 trainings to mostly migrant family's transitioning from Part C to Part B. We provided Transition and Resource Fairs to a total of 296 participants.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0The Branch - Military Parent Technical Assistance Center (MPTAC) This program is funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) through the Department of Education and the four year grant cycle started in 2014. The Branch will build the capacity of Parent Centers to provide effective services to miliitary parents of children with disabilities and youth with disabilities in military families. The Branch has three main goals for their technical assistance. Parent centers will have access to high quality, relevant, useful and accuate information on topics that increase their effectiveness when working with military families. Parent centers in the 10 states with the highest military representation will have usstained, effective relationships with the personnel on the military installations within their state. Parent centers who request intensive technical assistance will increase their capacity to support military families and have sustained, effective relationships with the personnel on the military installations in their area.

Training is provided to school professionals and a cohort model of PCP facilitators are trained and ready to assist offering with solutions for transition high school youth with disabilities and their families.

CIP helps build strong networks of support, resilient families, youth and professionals, works in cooperation with school districts and self-advocates in three geographical areas in Pierce County: East, West and Peninsula.

F2FHIC promotes good treatment decisions, cost effectiveness, and improved health outcomes. This includes working with families, community based organizations, state & local agencies, and medical programs to create a strong system of access to care.

This effective peer-mentoring provides shared experiential support, informational resources, and emotional support for residents of Pierce County and those temporarily in Pierce County to obtain vital medical attention.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc4Family Youth System Partners Round Table (FYSPRT) (funded by DSHS/Behavioral Health Services) is a statewide mental health initiative that brings families, youth system (mental health, recovery, juvenile justice, Child Services, school and the Division of Developmental Disabilities) and providers together in community forum meetings. These meetings are used to look at how mental health services are provided, how effective they are, and how the system could better support families and youth.
