Activity 2

Fund-raising - a charitable resource for wakemed, supporting the health system in its commitment to providing quality health care to all citizens of the community. Wakemed is more than technology and expertise, it is a haven whose doors are open to everyone in need. Fund-raising activities support wakemed through friend raising, fund raising and educational awareness of quality health care programs and services available at wakemed for the citizens of the community. With the purpose of providing philanthropic support for numerous wakemed programs and services, we have helped further wakemed's mission in the community.

Activity 3

Patient care - a multi-specialty physician practice with offices at several locations. The physicians and other providers in those practices are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art technology and care to patients in wake county and surrounding regions. We have nineteen specialty areas of care and serve over 129,000 outpatients per year with more than 258,000 office visits. In addition, hospitalists and, intensivists provide inpatient based services to thousands of patients annually, many who don't have a physician home. Other specialists support the signature programs of the health system such as heart and vascular services, trauma, neonatal intensive care and children's services. Our physicians provide training for residents and medical students from unc-chapel hill school of medicine and campbell university and also assist the nc area education centers (ahec) in their statewide mission of education and research. We provide opportunities to 500 residents a year as part of the organization's mission to improve distribution and retention of physicians in north carolina. Physicians participate in research activities to help promote the enhancement of the quality of care and address the health care need of the under served communities and populations. Many of these physicians either hold a teaching position or tenure track faculty at unc-chapel hill school of medicine.
