Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

The president's compensation was benchmarked against similar sized non-profits in the education sector(pulled from a sample of non-profit 990's); the board of directors also evaluated the president's compensation based on the range of 2nd tier employees in the organization and the overall budget.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The expecations project received its public charity status exemption letter mid-year (but effective january 6, 2012), we have not made our financial statements public yet, however, we will follow the standard approach that all non-profits take and publically disclose our 990 and other relevant policies.

IRS990/Desc0GENERAL PROGRAM - RELIGIOUS MEDIA HAS PROVEN ITSELF A FORMIDABLE FORCE IN CAPTURING THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF PEOPLE OF FAITH. FAITH-BASED TELEVISION AND RADIO STATIONS CONTINUE TO GROW IN POPULARITY AND MARKET SHARE. MAGAZINES AND WEBSITES INCREASE THEIR SUBSCRIBER LISTS AND INTERNET TRAFFIC. THE EXPECTATIONS PROJECT WILL DEVELOP A STRATEGY TO LEVERAGE FAITH-BASED MEDIA FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION REFORM. THE EXPECTATIONS PROJECT'S LEADERSHIP HAS RELATIONSHIPS WITH SEVERAL NATIONAL FAITH-BASED MEDIA OUTLETS. DURING THE LAST THREE YEARS, TEP'S LEADERSHIP HAS SECURED EARNED MEDIA IN SEVERAL OUTLETS, INCLUDING ABC NIGHTLY NEWS, CHRISTIANITY TODAY, TIME MAGAZINE, WORLD MAGAZINE AND RELEVANT/NEUE MAGAZINE. EACH OF THESE STORIES HIGHLIGHTED THE ROLE OF THE FAITH COMMUNITY IN PUBLIC EDUCATION REFORM.THESE MEDIA RELATIONSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS HAVE PROVEN TO BE A PRODUCTIVE AVENUE TO PITCH STORIES ABOUT EDUCATION REFORM AND FAITH COMMUNITIES. WE LEARNED WHICH STORY IDEAS ARE MORE COMPELLING AND LIKELY TO CAPTURE FAITH COMMUNITIES' INTEREST. WE WILL CREATE A STRATEGY FOR LEVERAGING THESE RELATIONSHIPS AND IDENTIFYING NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO GENERATE EARNED MEDIA.IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING ADVICE AND CONNECTIONS FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE MEDIA STORIES, WE WILL ALSO GENERATE EARNED MEDIA DURING THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT. THE EXPECTATIONS PROJECT WILL LEVERAGE FAITH LEADERS AND MEDIA RELATIONSHIPS TO DRIVE STORIES AND OPINION PIECES ABOUT EDUCATION REFORM AND FAITH COMMUNITIES. FOR THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT, THE EXPECTATIONS PROJECT WILL IDENTIFY FAITH LEADERS WHO ARE LIKELY TO ALIGN THEMSELVES TO WORK ON PUBLIC EDUCATION REFORM. TEP'S LEADERSHIP HAS EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS WITH MANY FAITH LEADERS AND WILL RELY ON THOSE CONNECTIONS TO HELP BRING THESE LEADERS, AND OTHERS, INTO A BROADER DISCUSSION ABOUT PUBLIC EDUCATION INEQUITY. TO ENSURE THE RESOURCES WE RECOMMEND WILL HAVE THE BIGGEST IMPACT, THE EXPECTATIONS PROJECT WILL WORK WITH AN EXTERNAL RESEARCH FIRM TO DESIGN A SURVEY ABOUT PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR FAITH COMMUNITIES. THE SURVEY RESULTS WILL IMPACT THE WAY WE THINK ABOUT RESOURCES AND CONTENT CREATION DURING THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT AND BEYOND. WE WILL ALSO START TO CONCEPTUALIZE THE IDEA OF A NATIONAL AND/OR LOCAL 'BACK TO SCHOOL SUNDAY.' THIS POTENTIAL CAMPAIGN PROVIDES A TIMELY AND COMPELLING OPPORTUNITY TO MOBILIZE CONGREGATIONS AROUND PUBLIC EDUCATION REFORM. WE WILL DEVOTE SOME OF OUR TIME TO PROPOSING WHAT THAT MIGHT LOOK LIKE FROM AN OUTLINE OF POTENTIAL MATERIALS TO A STRUCTURE THAT WOULD ENABLE US TO PILOT THE IDEA IN ONE CITY DURING 2013 OR 2014.
