Mission

St. Francis seraph ministries nurtures and nourishes the urban poor in mind, body and spirit so that they will be empowered to achieve their full potential.

St. Francis seraph ministries nourishes and nurtures people in need. Clients/guests who are homeless or low income are served through three food related programs either directly with food or through learning cooking, nutrition, and purchasing skills. Footcare is offered including providing shoes and socks. Guests are referred to other organizations to meet their needs; e.g., housing, addiction recovery, personal hygiene, healthcare, legal resolution, employment and education. Guests interested in employment in the garment industry or seeking additional income are provided classes in sewing and jewlery making skills. Scholarships are also provided for students at st. Francis seraph elementary school.

In october of 2021, footcare for the souls was acquired to become sfsm's newest program. Staffed by trained volunteers, it offers foot care, and shoes and socks for homeless individuals and is a way to connect, engage, and support individuals to improve their situation.

PART V, LINE 4:

The ministries' endowment consists of the ellerhorst endowment fund, a board-designated endowment fund, established to support general operations.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is exempt from federal income tax as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a)(2). The provisions of the asc standard, accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, clarifies the accounting for the recognition and measurement of uncertainties in income taxes for all entities, including not-for-profit organizations. The organization accounts for uncertain tax positions in accordance with the asc topic, accounting for contingencies, under which liabilities for uncertain tax positions are recognized in the financial statements when it becomes probable a liability has been incurred and the amount can be reasonably estimated.
