Melody rossi and pride metcalf are married.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

The Form 990 and State Filings must be prepared by a currently licensed CPA. The preparation of these forms may be completed by an in house CPA. However, if the returns are prepared in house, they must be reviewed by an independent CPA with a current license or Tax Attorney who is knowledgeable in non profit IRS and State regulations. The executive committee of the Board OF Directors will review the 990, and recommend that it be accepted by the board. Each board member will receive an electronic version of the 990 via email, and send approval via email response. The board secretary will note this 990 approval process in the meeting minutes.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Executive Director obtains written conflict of interest statement from each board member each year, and also gives each member a form. Any conflict issues are discussed.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management

The Executive Compensation Committee shall consist of appointed members of the board who are free of conflicts of interest. This Committee is charged with reviewing and approving the compensation of the Executive Director to ensure that the compensation is "just and reasonable".The review and approval must occur at the time of initial hiring, when the term is renewed or extended, and when the compensation (including benefits) is modified.Prior to making its determination, the Committee will obtain and rely upon appropriate data of comparable organizations in the same or similar communities for similar services. THE AREA IS KNOWN FOR HIGH CRIME, LOW EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT, UNEMPLOYMENT, AND GANGS. CLOUD & FIRE WORKS PRIMARILY WITH THE YOUTH IN THIS AREA. THE YOUTHBUILD PROGRAM CONTINUED TO THRIVE. THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN AUGUST WITH 124 YOUTH AND SERVED A TOTAL OF 195 YOUTH DURING THE YEAR. THE PARTICIPANTS WERE COMPRISED PRIMARILY OF OUT OF SCHOOL YOUTH, MEANING YOUTH (AGES 16-25) WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL. APPROXIMATELY ONE-THIRD OF THE YOUTH WERE PARENTS OF ONE OR MORE CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM CONTINUED TO HAVE A HIGH GRADUATION RATE (95%) AMONG ITS SENIOR CLASS. THE SCHOOL IMPLEMENTED A COUNSELING PROGRAM THAT IS OVERSEEN BY A MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST (M.F.T.) WHO VOLUNTEERS HER TIME. SHE SEES CLIENTS, INTERVENES IN CRISIS SITUATIONS, AND TRAINS STAFF ON MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. THE PROGRAM EMPHASIZES HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION, COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS, AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING. WE CONTINUED OUR MANUFACTURING PRE-APPRENTICESHIP, AND ALSO ADDED SOLAR INSTALLATION AND HEALTH CAREERS CURRICULA TO OUR PROGRAM. THESE ARE DESIGNED TO INTRODUCE OUR YOUTH TO POTENTIAL HIGH GROWTH CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. THE CHARTER SCHOOL CONTINUED TO EMPHASIZE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERISM. YOUTH VOLUNTEERED IN CHURCHES, IN STREET CLEAN-UPS, AND WITH HOMELESS SHELTERS. A CULMINATING EXPERIENCE WAS A SPRING TRIP TO EMERALD COVE CAMP IN BASS LAKE, WHERE STUDENTS ASSISTED THE CAMP IN PREPARING FOR ITS SUMMER PROGRAM. THE YOUTH ALSO HAD OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK AND HIKE TO THE TOP OF NEVADA FALLS. A GROUP OF YOUTH ALSO TRAVELED TO TECATE, MEXICO TO ASSIST IN A HOME BUILDING PROJECT FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. EPIC L.A. CHURCH CONTINUED TO MEET ON SUNDAYS, WITH A TOTAL OF 150 ATTENDEES OF ALL AGES DURING THE YEAR. THE CHURCH SPONSORED A THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE FOR THE COMMUNITY DURING WHICH APPROXIMATELY 100 TURKEYS AND DINNERS WERE GIVEN OUT. THE CHURCH ALSO STARTED AN AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM RAN FROM MARCH THROUGH JUNE, TO HELP CHILDREN COMPLETE HOMEWORK AND IMPROVE THEIR ACADEMIC ABILITIES. THIS PILOT PROGRAM SERVED A TOTAL OF 12 STUDENTS. THE WATERING HOLE COMMUNITY MUSIC VENUE CONTINUED TO HAVE INTERMITTENT PERFORMANCES. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF THREE PERFORMANCES DURING THE YEAR. THIS IS A TIME FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS TO SHARE THEIR TALENTS IN AN OPEN MIC ATMOSPHERE. IT IS ALSO A TIME TO SHARE OUR MISSION WITH MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.
