Mission

Day One Relief rapidly responds to the critical needs of marginalized communities and people, building resilient, long-term solutions.

Day One Relief provided large-scale logistical and material support to communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. We delivered generators, communication devices, food, water, medical and sanitation supplies, cash assistance, and other essential resources to partners across western North Carolina. Our team also coordinated aviation-based transport for medical staff and critical supplies when roads were inaccessible. Following the storm, we supported emerging relief hubs and community partners with ongoing logistics, procurement, transportation, warehousing, and distribution. Day One Relief connected national donors and relief organizations with frontline community groups, ensuring that large-scale donations were matched efficiently to urgent on-the-ground needs. Our support for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene remains ongoing. We also continue to address COVID-related needs and assist Eastern North Carolina through long-term recovery from Hurricanes Florence and Matthew.

IRS990/Desc0In 2024, Day One Relief provided large-scale logistical and material support to communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. We supplied partner organizations across western North Carolina with critical resources including generators, communication devices, MREs, water, tools, cash assistance, food, adult incontinence supplies, diapers, OTC, first aid and water sanitation systems. These efforts supported frontline communities and local organizations operating as emergency relief hubs. Our team facilitated aviation based emergency transport for emergency room doctors and nurses to hospitals that were inaccessible by road as well as initial transport of needed relief supplies by air until the roads opened up. Following Hurricane Helene, numerous community groups transformed into neighborhood-based disaster relief hubs. Day One Relief provided ongoing logistics, procurement, transportation, warehousing, and distribution support to ensure these hubs had the resources necessary to meet urgent needs. We also coordinated the movement of donated goods from large organizations into affected communities and ensured equitable distribution through trusted local partners. Day One Relief served as a connector between national relief organizations, private-sector donors, and grassroots community partners responding to Hurricane Helene. We matched large-scale donations with on-the-ground needs, expedited the flow of critical supplies, and provided technical assistance to local organizations adapting their operations for emergency response.
