THIS YEAR'S FLORIDA EVENT SAW THE UNITED MOTORCOACH ASSOCIATION'S (UMA) ANNUAL CONVENTION TO UNITE WITH NTA'S ANNUAL EVENT TO BRING 4,000 DELEGATES TO THE CONVENTION. HOSTING REFRESHMENTS QUALIFIED HAWAI'I ISLAND AS A SILVER SPONSOR. THIS GAVE US A 10 X 20 BOOTH WITH MAXIMUM EXPOSURE WHERE STAFF EXPERTISE, PROMOTIONAL LITERATURE AND FLORAL DESIGNS WERE USED TO MARKET OUR DESTINATION. TWO DAYS WERE ALLOTTED TO DESTINATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION (DMO) FOR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS WITH TOUR OPERATORS AND THE REMAINING TWO DAYS WERE FOR SUPPLIERS AND TOUR OPERATORS TO MEET. OUR PRESENCE ALLOWED BIVB/HIVB/COUNTY TO REVEAL CONTACT 2013 THAT WILL TAKE PLACE ON HAWAII ISLAND AUGUST 15-17, 2013. (NOTE: REGISTRATION FEES FOR THIS CONFERENCE WERE ORIGINALLY LISTED UNDER CORPORATE MEETINGS & INCENTIVES IN THE FIRST INTERIM REPORT. THAT EXPENSE AND ALL SUBSEQUENT EXPENSES NOW APPEAR UNDER FOUNDATIONAL PROGRAMS-TRAVEL TRADE.)NATIONAL TOUR ASSOCIATION (NTA) CONTACT 2013: HAWAI'I ISLAND, ALONG WITH THE HILTON WAIKOLOA VILLAGE AND ROBERT'S HAWAII HOSTED NTA'S "CONTACT 2013." CONTACT IS AN EVENT EXCLUSIVELY FOR NTA TOUR OPERATOR MEMBERS AND SPONSORS. CONTACT 2013 TOOK PLACE AUGUST 15-17, 2013. THE BUREAU SUPPORTED THE EVENT BY PLACING ADS IN NTA'S COURIER MAGAZINE, APRIL AND AUGUST ISSUES. THE APRIL 2013 ISSUE COVERED CONTACT 2013 AND THE AUGUST 2013 ISSUE FEATURED A HAWAI'I TRAVEL GUIDE. PRODUCTION DESIGN FOR THESE PLACEMENTS OCCURRED IN MARCH.IN ADDITION TO ADVERTISING, THE BUREAU LAUNCHED AN EMAIL CAMPAIGN DESIGNED TO EDUCATE NTA MEMBERS ABOUT OUR ISLAND AS WELL AS BUILD ATTENDANCE FOR BOTH THE CONFERENCE AND SIGHTSEEING ACTIVITIES. SIX BLASTS WENT OUT PRIOR TO THE CONFERENCE AND ONE FINAL "MAHALO" BLAST WENT OUT ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 3013. THE FIRST THREE BLASTS WENT OUT TO THE ENTIRE NTA MEMBERSHIP AND THE SECOND THREE TO CONTACT 2013 REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS. THE SIXTH BLAST INCLUDED A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM MAYOR BILLY KENOI AND A GIFT OF HAWAII ISLAND MUSIC DOWNLOADABLE FROM MOUNTAIN APPLE COMPANY. THE FINAL BLAST THANKED PARTICIPANTS FOR EXPERIENCING OUR ISLAND AND REMINDED THEM TO LOAD THE MUSIC IF THEY DIDN'T ALREADY DO SO. THE MAIN EVENT WAS HELD AT HILTON WAIKOLOA VILLAGE FROM AUGUST 15 - 18 WITH MORE THAN 120 IN ATTENDANCE. NTA'S SUMMER EVENT RELIES HEAVILY ON HOST DESTINATION SUPPORT. WITH COUNTY FUNDING AND IN-KIND SUPPORT FROM OUR ISLAND PARTNERS.BIVB CARRIED OUT A HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL EVENT. BIVB WAS RESPONSIBLE TO FIND SPONSORS FOR THE KICK-OFF EVENING EVENT, FINAL NIGHT EVENT, TRANSPORTATION, AND SIGHTSEEING ACTIVITIES. OUR PARTNERS WERE HILTON WAIKOLOA VILLAGE, THE FAIRMONT ORCHID, HAPUNA BEACH PRINCE, HAWAII FOREST & TRAIL, DOLPHIN QUEST HAWAII, MAUNA LANI SEA ADVENTURES, WAIKOLOA BEACH GOLF, ROBERTS HAWAII, KINGS SHOPS, AND QUEENS MARKETPLACE. IN-KIND VALUE WAS MORE THAN $44,367.NTA (NATIONAL TOUR ASSOCIATION) CONTACT 2013 PRE FAM: THE PRE-FAM TOOK PLACE ON HAWAII ISLAND FROM AUGUST 12 - 14 WITH 35 CONFIRMED TOUR OPERATORS. NTA HAS A STRONG PRESENCE IN THE CHINA MARKET AND WE HAD NEARLY 40 PERCENT OF CHINA OPERATORS' ATTEND THE FAM. THE 3-DAY, 2-NIGHT EVENT ALLOWED OUR FAM ATTENDEES TO LEARN ABOUT KONA TO KA'U TO HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK TO HILO TOWN UP NORTH THROUGH THE HAMAKUA COAST AND ENDING AT THE HILTON WAIKOLOA VILLAGE (SITE OF THE CONTACT 2013 CONFERENCE). A MAYOR'S RECEPTION WAS HELD IN HILO AT IMILOA ASTRONOMY CENTER, WHICH WAS WELL RECEIVED BY THE TOUR OPERATORS. OCEAN SPORTS INVITED ALL NTA ATTENDEES TO BE THEIR GUEST ON AUGUST 14 ON THE MOKU NUI SUNSET SAIL AND REPORTED 80 PARTICIPANTS. ACCOMMODATIONS WERE PROVIDED BY SHERATON KONA RESORT & SPA AT KEAUHO
