Mission

Promote visitors to the island of hawaii. Implementation of targeted promotions designed to promote tourism to hawaii island with an emphasis on growth in visitor spending and length of stay and increasing arrivals during shoulder periods.

C-trip co-op marketing:the first-ever direct non-stop flights from china to honolulu began august 9, 2011. C-trips, china's leading travel portal (equivalent to expedia in the u.s.) has teamed up with china eastern air to bring tour groups to hawai'i. Hivb entered into a co-op marketing agreement with c-trip to increase awareness and build demand for travel to hawai'i island targeting potential business and leisure visitors from shanghai, beijing, guangzhou and chengdu, china. The primary categories include mice, romance/honeymoon, golf, family, self-drive, shopping & cuisine, adventures and study tours. The promotion includes online, offline, print, and television advertising.
Activity 3
Alaska airlines magazine:alaska airlines currently services kona international airport with direct flights from oakland and san jose, ca, portland, or, and seattle, wa and accounts for 25% of domestic overseas arrivals. 2011 load factors through september range in the 90 percentile, up 8.6% from 2010 (based on data from the bureau of transportation statistics). To maintain this momentum and affect spring and summer travel, an ad was placed in the march 2012 edition of alaska airlines in-flight magazine. Continuing with 4c 2/3 page ads positioned adjacent to editorial, hivb's ad anchored a hawai'i island section that included cooperative partners castle resorts, the fairmont orchid hawai'i, mauna lani bay hotel & bungalows, aston hotels & resorts and sunquest. As part of the buy, we received a reader response listing and mention of our url, bigisland.org. Alaska airlines in-flight readership: 1,416,998 passengers per month system wide.
