1 a post-presidential election roundtable dinner discussion moderated by 12 news political correspondent brahm resnik. Panelists included political analyst, greg valliere of horizon investments, tony crescenzi, interest rate strategist at pimco, and linda duessel, senior equity strategist at federated. 2 increased prominence of our annual charter ceremony by moving it to a dinner event and eliminating the cost to attend for new charterholders, their guests, and members. This year, we recognized twenty-two new charterholders. 3 seven regular programming events featuring topics such as u.s. Economic and interest rate policy, the dols new fiduciary rule, real estate, and the future of the wealth and asset management industry. 4 we held our twelfth annual market forecast dinner in february. The event was attended by approximately 260 members and guests. The three panelists included frank kelly, managing director global coordinator public affairs, deutsche bank tad rivelle, chief investment officer-fixed, tcw and douglas cote, cfa, chief market strategist, voya investment management. The moderator was jane wells, special correspondent, cnbc.

5 as the fiscal year came to an end, the board collaborated with the cfa institute to refine our mission statement and identify three areas of focus. Look for new initiatives aimed at improving member engagement, advocacy, and programming in the years ahead. 6 we continued to leverage our web site www.cfasociety.org/phoenix to spread awareness of our society among members and the public. We also continued to maintain the candidates page to help organize study groups and facilitate the purchase of practice exams. 7 we sent board members to represent our members and local society at cfa institute conferences including the society leadership conference and the americas regional conference. 8 we hosted the 8th annual desert classic research challenge, the first step to reaching the global research challenge which gathers students, investment industry professionals, and publicly traded companies together locally, regionally, and globally for a real-world competition. Six universities participated from arizona, nevada and new mexico and the winner of the regional challenge was northern arizona university. 9 we continued to offer continuing education ce credits automatically to members who attended educational presentations this year.

10 we remained active working with business undergraduate and mba students at asu and again awarded a 1,500 scholarship to a deserving student selected by the college of business. 11 we held a golf scramble for members and guests in november. 12 we offered members and cfa candidates an opportunity to attend a spring training game in march. 13 we continued networking/happy hour events for current members and cfa candidates. 14 we published the 2017 cfa society phoenix annual report. 15 each year we host a dinner for members, and this years dinner took place on june 8, 2017 at monterra at westworld and featured a casino night for charity. 16 cfa society phoenix continued its support of candidates pursuing the cfa charter in the state of arizona.
