Program accomplishment 1 cfasp hosted the following series of five lectures macroeconomics, by dr. Cara mcdaniel, derivatives, by dr. Anand bhattacharya, quantitative methods, by dr. Phil mizzi, accounting, by dr. Phil drake and corporate finance, by dr. Wendell licon. There were approximately 35 participants attending each of these lectures. Cfasp continued to offer continuing education ce credits automatically to those who attended educational presentations this year.

Program accomplishment 2 cfasp held our ninth annual market forecast dinner in february. The event was attended by 212 members and guests. The three panelists included shane shepard, ph.d., senior vice president, head of fixed income research, research affiliates heidi richardson, managing director, global investment strategist, blackrock jeffrey sherman, cfa, portfolio manager, aston funds/doubleline. The moderator was vinny catalano, cfa, president of blue marble research.

Program accomplishment 3 cfasp hosted the 5th annual az/nv investment research challenge, the first step to reaching the global investment research challenge which gathers students, investment industry professionals, and publicly traded companies together locally, regionally, and globally for a real-world competition. Four universities participated from arizona and nevada and the winner of the regional challenge was northern arizona university.

Program accomplishment 4 cfasp sent board members to represent our members and local society at cfa institute conferences including the society leadership conference, the americas regional conference, and the annual conference.

Program accomplishment 5 cfasp continued networking/happy hour events for current members and cfa candidates and hosted our annual dinner for members.

Program accomplishment 6 cfasp continued its support of candidates pursuing the cfa charter in the state of arizona. This year cfasp was pleased to provide scholarships to six cfa candidates. Cfasp also provided candidates an opportunity to purchase, at a discount, study notes from kaplan/schweser. Also offered for purchase were practice exams created by the boston society bsas for all three levels of the cfa program. And cfa society of los angeles, partnering with the university of southern california, marshall school of business usc, offered streaming media recordings of their level i, ii, and iii review program for purchase. The cfasp also held a live mock exam for all levels on may 17, 2014. The live exams were made available at nominal cost to interested cfa candidates in the phoenix area.
