“The vision of be aware blount is to create a drug free community that is united and empowered to address the social, emotional, and economic wellbeing of blount county families and individuals. Our mission is to establish a network of community members and agencies that create opportunities for public discourse and implementation of strategies to reduce substance abuse. The purpose of be aware blount is to connect the diverse elements of blount county in a united effort that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and encourages resiliency, to reduce substance abuse risk factors and increase protective factors through a data informed planning process that results in extensive support and involvement from the community, to develop and support a youth coalition that identifies and addresses community issues and needs, and to act as an instrument for groups and individuals to identify and address social issues taht weaken the community.”

“Be aware blount provides substance misuse education and awareness to over 10,000 families in blount county through events, education programming, and awareness media campaigns. This is accomplished by partnerships with local schools, law enforcement, community coalition members, and support from local county government.”
