“The mission of the folded map project is to be: a resident-, advocacy-, and policy-influencing tool that invites audiences to open a dialogue and question how we are all impacted by racial and institutional conditions segregating the city.”

“During fy 2021, folded map accomplished the following activities in service of its mission: 1)supported by a contract with healing illinois (managed through the chicago community trust) we expanded the reach of the folded map action kit throughout chicago by: a.producing 1,000 hard copies of the folded map action kit (fmak) and distributing them through the mail and during engagement; in addition, the online version of the fmak was downloaded approximately 700 times. B.conducted 8 engagement events in which we promoted and facilitated the use of the fmak, including an on-going partnership with the chicago bungalow association, as well as events for illinois humanities, chicago park district, blue cross blue shield of illinois, old town folk music, block club chicago, as well as churches and schools. 2)supported by a grant from the chicago community trust we continued to expand the impact of folded map through the building out of our don't go project, which included the publication of a series of articles, accompanied by a live virtual event and podcast with block club chicago, a non-profit media company. In addition, the foundation was laid for a curriculum based on the folded map project that teachers can use to engage students in reflection and action around disrupting our segregated city.”
