“Offcenter's mission is to promote positive self-identity and resilience through art making by providing a safe environment for creative social interaction with an emphasis on enhancing the lives of those most marginalized in our community. Offcenter seeks to build community through regular participation in art making and creative dialog among people of socially and economically diverse backgrounds. No matter one's background, every particpant finds acceptance and self discovery through the arts and social dialogue.”

“A low-commission art sales shop and gallery which serves ~2200 unduplicated participants annually. Our supportive setting and caring staff encourage positive interaction between diverse people of all ages and cultures and many at-risk who would otherwise continue to be socially isolated and stigmatized. Our participants include homeless, veterans, low-income and those reentering society from incarceration and domestic violence shelters. Offcenter benefited from the support of over 100 volunteers who provided art instruction, administrative support, event planning, and fundraising support. We also received in kind donations of over 90% of the materials used in programs, rent reduction and bookkeeping services.”

“The festival attracts between 2000-3000 people and includes a giant puppet parade, about 90 local art vendors, musical and dance performances and a large art making canopy where children and families can make art throughout the day.”
