Inspire new mexicans to rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle
Major Activities

- Core program - activities under this program include certification courses for recycling and composting, general membership services, legislative advocacy, and other on-going recycling initiatives. General membership & public services: nmrc provides a website, online searchable recycling directory, listserv, monthly electronic newsletter and a membership directory to its members. Also takes calls from public as a public service. Nmrc serves on local and nation boards and recycling task forces. Nmrc has more than 250 members.recycling and compost facility operators certification courses: two recycling and two composting courses were held in 2011. 122 students attended these classes, allowing them to certify or re-certify as a solid waste professional in the state and fulfill state regulation requirement.

- Education and outreach - activities under this program include, the recycling conference, which takes place every-other-year; the annual meeting, which takes place in the nonconference years; and recycle new mexico which is a year-round education and outreach program that includes new mexico recycling awareness month (november) and america recycles day activities and supports targeted community education campaigns.nmrc hosted an annual members meeting in june of 2011, presenting information on the state of recycling in new mexico, setting up successful recycling programs, reuse centers, household hazardous waste and material marketing. 98 professionals attended.recycle new mexico is a year-round education and outreach program that included new mexico recycling awareness month (november) and america recycles day activities and supports targeted community education campaigns. The 2011 campaign targets are home to the state's six new collection centers: deming, torrance county, otero county, gallup, truth or consequences and raton. Each community received outreach and education assistance and materials from nmrc and collaboration with local media outlets to educate the public about new recycling opportunities.
