“Our mission at roots & wings charitable foundation is to offer support to integrative & wellness programs that increase emotional, physical & spiritual well-being during the continuous oncology treatment for metastatic breast cancer (mbc).”

“100 complimentary acupuncture & oncology massage appointments were offered to the mbc community at rush cancer center in chicago, il. The program was called "we see you. We honor you.- and it commenced on october 1st for breast cancer awareness month. The complimentary appointments will be available at rush until they have completed. Roots & wings created postcard-sized invitations for oncologists to "invite" mbc patients to participate in the complimentary appointments. The accomplishment of the program was measured by having every appointment claimed as well as receiving positive experience feedback from the mbc patients that participated. 50% of our appointments were delayed due to covid at the end of 2020 and have since resumed. All appointments will be completed by june 2021 (given no unforeseen issues). Feedback from the participating oncologists claimed that mbc patients were moved emotionally by the invitations and that someone was witnessing their need for these services and helping with the cost barriers. All patients, except one, responded with gratitude after the appointments. This single patient decided that oncology massage wasn't beneficial to her. Roots & wings will repeat this gift in october 2021.”

“Wildfire is a magazine specifically designed with the young breast cancer survivor and fighter in mind. Every contributor to the magazine is diagnosed under the age of 45 - a growing population decades younger than the average breast cancer fighter with very few age-appropriate resources available. Roots & wings supported the mbc oct/nov issue as underwriters. Roots & wings along with our mission was printed in the magazine that reaches over 17,000 readers. Accomplishment of the program was measured by outreach to mbc patients, new partnerships and advocacy for mbc. We continued to support the publication and will have committed to do so through the end of 2021.”
