Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11 B

A draft of the 990 is sent to the trustees of the board for review, via email, before the 990 is finalized. After receipt of the draft, the trustees have 2 weeks to review the draft and request any changes. The final version of the return is signed by the treasurer.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12 C

At the annual board of directors meeting in june, the conflict-of-interest policy is reviewed and signed by each member. Any existing conflicts are noted in the minutes and taken into consideration in the organization's decision-making process. If a new conflict arises during the year, the board expects notification of the new conflict.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 A & B

The executive committee, comprised of the board president, vice president, and treasurer, determines the annual salary of the executive director, which is then approved by the entire board. Comparative, peer data and a performance review are used to determine the executive director's compensation package. The organization has no other paid officers or employees meeting the irs definition of a key employee.

Form 990 Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization will provide, in a timely manner, financial statements and governing documents including its conflict-of-interest policies when requested in writing or in person.

(3)we provide supplementary education services and experiential learning support to improve and expand students' educational foundation. (4) We empower parents with resources, both informational and financial, trusting THEM to determine the best learning environment for their children. IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Through our expanded efforts, we will improve academic achievement for students by being (1) an informational resource for all families and (2) a financial resource for families in low socio-economic circumstances. An anecdotal from one of our families. "The empowerment we as a family have gained, such as knowledge of community resources, ways in which we can advocate, and the understanding that we have choice has allowed our family to grow and take advantage of all opportunities available to us. Our children's success remains our mission, and we are grateful and thankful that Parents Challenge believed and invested in us." - Torres Family
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Our challenges are parental and scholar-centric as some of our students are still struggling since Covid in trying to catch up academically. We have continued to provide tutoring and brain integration that are breaking many of these barriers to help students increase their academic progress in reading and math. We have experienced several breakthroughs this year. Parents also have highlighted their children's social-emotional and mental health concerns. Based on their comments, many were proactive and have taken steps to address and treat their children's health issues. Parents Challenge has provided support to families requesting support for their scholars.
