Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 2

Dave Liniger, a board member, is married to the Vice Chair, Gail Liniger.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11

The Form 990 is provided to CEO for review. She then sends it to the board members for review prior to filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12C

Financial Statement Notes

Part III, Line 4:

It is the vision of The Wildlife Experience to inspire an appreciation and respect for wildlife and the outdoors through education. Toward that end, the Museum is caring for its collections, including fine art, and natural specimens. The collections are a valuable tool in providing educational and entertaining experiences that both instill respect and inspire efforts to conserve habitat and wildlife. The fine art collection is interpreted in a gallery exhibit, where it serves educators to explore both art and science topics, from artistic styles, techniques and materials, to animal adaptations, taxonomy and behaviors. The fine art collection includes paintings, photographs and sculptures by well-known wildlife artists. The collection focuses on wild animals of the world depicted in their natural habitats. The Museum's natural history collection encompasses taxidermy animal specimens. Education collections are used daily in programs at the museum. The Wildlife Experience maintains these collections in order to tell the many significant stories about animals and our world. As the Earth's wild spaces disappear, life-size animals displayed at The Wildlife Experience in a re-created reality may be the only experience of nature some visitors will enjoy. These priceless objects help us understand our place among wildlife, and how and why we will be served by protecting the natural world.

Part V, Line 4:

Earnings of the Fund are for general operating needs of the Museum.

IRS990/Desc0The Wildlife Experience became part of the Liniger Building at CU South Denver in 2015. The Wildlife Experience Art Gallery continues as a wildlife conservation exhibit featuring fine art. The Art Gallery strives to inspire a new generation of conservationists and outdoors enthusiasts by bringing visitors closer to wildlife and fostering the desire to experience the outdoors through its collection of fine art. During 2015, program service accomplishments were limited to the care and exhibition of the arts and taxidermy, providing support to the University of Colorado for Outdoor Education, and donating taxidermy to the Plains Conservation.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0It is the vision of The Wildlife Experience to inspire an appreciation and respect for wildlife and the outdoors through education.
IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Earnings of the Fund are for general operating needs of the Museum.
