Form 990

------------------- mission statement, continued -------------------- committed to providing a nurturing community that fosters emotional healing and personal growth, a variety of activities tailored for all abilities are designed to bring joy, foster friendships, and provide a much-needed break from the hospital setting. Children can engage in playful adventures and form bonds that help alleviate the feelings of isolation that accompany a cancer journey. Siblings, who often need this intervention the most, find solace and camaraderie among peers who truly understand their experiences. This inclusive approach ensures that every family member feels valued and supported, reinforcing the importance of emotional well-being for all.

Form 990, Page 1, Part I, Line 6

Health care is provided at wapiyapi's programs through the donation of expert services of physicians and nurses. The value of this in-kind donation cannot be included in the revenue on this form but is greatly appreciated by the organization as programs cannot be offered without the health care needs of participants being met. In 2024, the donation of physician and nurse services was valued at 78,982.

Form 990, Part III

Wapiyapi is dedicated to creating a transformative experience and we continually assess program effectiveness using a comprehensive logic model. One hundred percent of families reported that the camp experience had a positive impact on their child/ren's life and that it inspired more hope for the future. The removal of the covid vaccine requirement this year opened the doors wide, allowing more families to participate. Not only did numbers increase, but so did the needs of the campers with more of them on medications and requiring special care. Successfully preparing for these needs and delivering exceptional care reflects our priority to make camp wapiyapi possible for more affected children. Additionally, as pediatric cancer strikes indiscriminately, wapiyapi strives to reach families across the state including rural and impoverished areas.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0------------------- MISSION STATEMENT, CONTINUED -------------------- COMMITTED TO PROVIDING A NURTURING COMMUNITY THAT FOSTERS EMOTIONAL HEALING AND PERSONAL GROWTH, A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES TAILORED FOR ALL ABILITIES ARE DESIGNED TO BRING JOY, FOSTER FRIENDSHIPS, AND PROVIDE A MUCH-NEEDED BREAK FROM THE HOSPITAL SETTING.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1HEALTH CARE IS PROVIDED AT WAPIYAPI'S PROGRAMS THROUGH THE DONATION OF EXPERT SERVICES OF PHYSICIANS AND NURSES.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2WAPIYAPI IS DEDICATED TO CREATING A TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCE AND WE CONTINUALLY ASSESS PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS USING A COMPREHENSIVE LOGIC MODEL.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3THE FORM 990 IS REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY IS SIGNED BY ALL NEW BOARD MEMBERS AT THE TIME OF THEIR ORIENTATION. EACH YEAR, THE FULL BOARD FILLS OUT THE FORM TO REPORT CHANGES OR IF THERE ARE NO CHANGES.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5THE COMPENSATION FOR THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IS DETERMINED THROUGH COLORADO NONPROFIT ASSOCIATION DATA, ALONG WITH OTHER DATA, AND IS APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6THE ORGANIZATION'S GOVERNING DOCUMENTS ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
