“Primary exempt purpose - caborca is a bilingual theatre ensemble under the auteurship of javier antonio gonzález. For over a decade, we have occupied a unique space in new york at the intersection of the latinx and experimental arts communities, building an expansive body of politically and aesthetically charged work that confronts entrenched colonial power dynamics. A laboratory for dramatic and performative forms, we create original and adapted works by engaging an ever-expanding range of tools such as multimedia, physical and dance theatre, nonlinearity, fluidity of character and language, and choral storytelling. Line 28 - in 2021, caborca mounted a two-week workshop of its next original work, rubalee, a heavy-metal choral musical about the critically endangered north atlantic right whale. During the workshop, the script was refined and revised and music for act 1 was composed, learned, and recorded. Caborca also completed post-production on 2 short films, patitos comiendo arroz and intermission. Included in the program service expenses is $15,400 in in-kind services not stated elsewhere.”
