“Part III - Statement of Program Service Accomplishments (continued for form 990, page 2)ATTORNEY ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAM: In response to the California State Bar Association's mandate requiring attorneys to complete implicit bias CLE credits, we developed a three-part curriculum grounded in psychology, sociology, and legal scholarship. Each course is 60 minutes and was created in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of judges, attorneys, psychologists, sociologists, and narrative experts. The courses explore how implicit bias manifests across the legal process and offer evidence-based strategies to improve equitable legal outcomes.(The first course was finished and submitted for accreditation in May 2025.)Stock Footage Site for Sustainability: Throughout 2024, we made significant progress on the development of a stock footage platform designed to monetize b-roll from our sentencing video shoots. The site, which is now in its final stages, will launch in late December. The footage, captured from real environments and diverse communities, has broad market appeal and will provide a recurring revenue stream to support our mission. Contributors will also be able to upload their own images and videos, and the site includes a Prisoner Art section to showcase and sell illustrations created by currently incarcerated artists.”

When judges see a more complete picture of the human being they must sentence,they render fairer and more compassionate sentences. Nearly every judge who has watched a video has offered a lighter sentence than both the sentencing guidelines and the probation departments recommendation. 57% of our clients received a supervised released-only sentence, avoiding incarceration altogether. In all cases,the respective defense attorneys attributed the judges decision to the information presented in our video. Each course is 60 minutes and was created in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of judges, attorneys, psychologists, sociologists, and narrative experts. The courses explore how implicit bias manifests across the legal process and offer evidence-based strategies to improve equitable legal outcomes.(The first course was finished and submitted for accreditation in May 2025.)Stock Footage Site for Sustainability: Throughout 2024, we made significant progress on the development of a stock footage platform designed to monetize b-roll from our sentencing video shoots. The site, which is now in its final stages, will launch in late December. The footage, captured from real environments and diverse communities, has broad market appeal and will provide a recurring revenue stream to support our mission. Contributors will also be able to upload their own images and videos, and the site includes a Prisoner Art section to showcase and sell illustrations created by currently incarcerated artists. |
