“Union hall is a non-collecting, non-profit arts exhibition space, advancing opportunities for emerging artists, and showcasing innovative contemporary art in the union station neighborhood of denver. At the start of 2020, union hall launched its rough gems program, a curatorial open call and an annual signature program developed to support emerging artists and curators through equitable wages and diversify the voices responsible for exhibition-making. Union hall was forced to shut down due to covid-19 in march 2020, continuing to engage the public through a community-driven window pop-up display called words for our country, along with ongoing virtual events. Reopening in october with timed-entry and social-distancing measures in place, the organization worked collaboratively with the university of colorado at boulder to feature a group exhibition which welcomed approximately 300 visitors to the space.”
