Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 2

The organization clarified its program services in more detail on lines 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d than has previously been reported.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Upward mobility - utah community builders is committed to removing barriers to entry or reentry into the workforce and the upward economic mobility of all utahns. There are significant obstacles for low-income utahns, including transportation, child care, and the benefits cliff effect. Increased access to upskilling/reskilling programs or postsecondary education is also essential to career progression and the financial stability of individuals and families. Utah businesses of all sizes, working parents, and our state economy will benefit from lifting marginalized communities.utah community builders developed and produced an employer toolkit for suicide prevention, fair change hiring guide and living well in law. Ucb identified the benefits cliff and helped employers develop strategies to help employees and potential employees overcome this problem. Ucb served 664 business and individuals.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Family friendly workplaces - utah community builders defines a family friendly workplace as an environment that includes a supportive company culture, dependent care benefits, workforce flexibility, and empathetic leadership. Post pandemic, employees continue to ask for the same level of autonomy and flexibility in where, when, and how they work.working parents need for access to high quality, affordable child care is a key reason for workforce flexibility requests. The center for american progress estimates that 77% of utahns live in a child care desert, without access to high quality, affordable care, which is the highest mark of all states. Child care issues result in an estimated 1.36 billion-dollar annual loss for utahs economy, with 1.10 billion accounting for absenteeism and turnover costs to businesses.solutions are available but every industry and business has unique needs. Utah community builders had successful launches of the untaped potential in utah report and the family-friendly workplaces: a guide for utah business leaders. Ucb also presented or spoke a various events including the first annual child care day on the hill, educating and training of over 425 business leaders.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Workforce mental health - utah community builders believes mental health needs to be destigmatized in the workplace andhas a robust set of resources available to employers and employees alike with esteemed experts who can provide management training to support businesses mental health programming.the needs of today's workforce are complex and require a holistic management approach.when employees thrive, they are more productive. When working parents have the tools and flexibility they need to juggle the demands of work and family, they too are more productive and oftentimes experience increased loyalty to their employers.

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Each entity believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken affecting its annual filing requirements and, as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the consolidated financial statements. The entities would recognize future accrued interest and penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits and liabilities in income tax expense if such interest and penalties are incurred.

MOST GRANTS ARE REPEATED FROM PRIOR YEARS AND THE PROGRAMS ARE WELL KNOWN. EXTRA CARE NEEDS TO BE USED FOR NEW GRANTS. THE GRANTEE PROVIDES A REQUEST AND OR PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL, SUCH AS BROCHURES, THAT DESCRIBE THE EVENT OR PROGRAM FOR WHICH THE FUNDS ARE BEING SOUGHT. GRANTOR STAFF MAY ASSIST OR PARTICIPATE WITH THESE EVENTS OR PROJECTS AND MONITOR THEM TO ENSURE THAT PROGRAMS MEET THE GRANTOR'S MISSION AND GOALS. SOME EVENTS ARE OBVIOUS SUCH AS CULTURAL, ARTS, AND MUSIC FESTIVALS WITH A LARGE COMMUNITY PRESENCE AND ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A FINAL REPORT.
