THESE GATHERINGS SERVE AS A CRITICAL RESOURCE FOR RESPITE AMONG MANY MEMBERS WHILE ALSO ELEVATING THE QUALITY OF THE CHOIR'S PERFORMANCES. THREE OF OUR MEMBERS RECENTLY JOINED THE CITY OF TACOMA'S COMMISSION FOR REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT AFFAIRS AFTER FINDING THEIR VOICE IN THE CHOIR.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0PUBLIC EVENTS: EVENTS PROVIDE AN IMPORTANT CREATIVE OUTLET FOR OUR CHOIR MEMBERS AS WELL AS SERVING TO CONNECT TRC DIRECTLY WITH THE COMMUNITY. WE HOSTED TWO MAJOR PERFORMANCES IN 2021: THE "RETURN OF LIVE SINGING," A DRIVE-IN CONCERT THAT WAS ATTENDED BY ABOUT 500 COMMUNITY MEMBERS, OUR FIRST PUBLIC CONCERT SINCE THE START OF THE PANDEMIC. THE EVENT ALSO PROMOTED CULTURAL SHARING BY FEATURING FOOD VENDORS OF DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO INTERACT WITH OTHERS IN A SAFE OUTDOOR SETTING. IT WAS FOR MANY THEIR FIRST CONCERT IN MANY MONTHS. OUR HOLIDAY CONCERT "LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH" WAS LIVESTREAMED AND BROUGHT OVER 300 ATTENDEES TOGETHER ON DECEMBER 18TH. OTHER PUBLIC PERFORMANCES INCLUDED EVENTS AT THE LEMAY MUSEUM AND THE DEDICATION OF A PEACE POLE.

TRC ALSO USED OTHER FORMATS LIKE THE "CREATING HOME TOGETHER" PODCAST, WHICH REFUGEE MEMBERS OF TRC USED TO DISCUSS NOTIONS OF "HOME".
