“The refugee enrichment and development association (reda) is an independent, non-affiliated association based in sacramento, ca. Reda was established in 2017 to address the urgent needs of refugees and new immigrants community who are lacking english language and lacking knowledge of navigating the us governmental and services resources and systems. Reda is striving to help the refugees and new immigrants getting essential resources and skills that would make their transition toward being self-sufficient be faster, which would allow for them a better and more dignified integration process. Redas objective is to make the refugees and new immigrants assimilate in the society by being positive contributors rather than a burden and dependents on the society. Reda is also filling the gap of the lack of help and support resources that would provide a continuous assistance to the refugees when their initial 90 days support, which they receive from their initial resettlement agencies, is over. To achieve redas objective, reda has opened a culturally sensitive refugee service center located in a concentration of over 2000 refugee familys residents in the neighborhood. The service center provides refugee and immigrant families with crucial support for their day-to-day logistical needs through part-time employees and volunteers and through collaboration with community resources. At the service center, refugees can go and get daily assistance through case managers and volunteers who speak their language and know the local system. The technical help the center provides to the refugees is helping them for example to keep surviving through the complex paperwork of dealing with the various complex processes when they deal with medical, education, employment, housing, and or social services that they receive but they dont know how to handle its demands. This is done by aiding the individuals and families filling out applications, making appointments, sorting their mail, connecting them to employment opportunities, and connecting them with various governmental and community resources.reda is also supporting the refugee children education by developing homework & tutoring clubs to help middle & high schooler students to catch up with their academic challenges. Reda is also hosting educational workshops (financial literacy, parenting, etc.) as well as educating families about their rights and responsibilities within the various us systems.reda also has been contracted by the sacramento county, department of mental health, to provide a mental health screening program over a period of five years for the arabic speaking community members living in the greater sacramento valley. The objective of this program is to prevent suicide among the arabic speaking community members by conducting initial surveys by case managers followed by personal interviews by mental health professionals to identify the level and sources of the stressors that affecting their mental health conditions. Then, either help them by resolving the sources of the stressors through the reda case management & emergency fund programs or refer them to mental health professionals and psychiatry clinics if the conditions are more serious or would need medical intervention. In this suicide prevention program, reda is also providing monthly webinars and workshops offered by mental health and other professionals to educate the clients about topic related to mental health or to provide information about a topic that would ease their sources of stressors. In addition, reda is developing educational videos and organizing group therapy sessions to help individuals cope with the challenges they are facing in their daily lives that would affect their mental health conditions. Reda has also created an emergency fund program that would help families who are facing a financial crisis that causing them to have deficit in their cash follow so they cannot pay their full rent amount or being behind on th”
