“Aina momona partnered with ceres trust, the grassroots international through the beai fund, kamehameha schools, and university of hawaii maui to develop a fellowship for the young leaders of molokai to build upon their existing skills and talents in natural and cultural resource management. The aloha aina fellowship program provides aina- and community- based learning opportunities for these young leaders to increase their capacity in food production, social justice and resilience, historic preservation, and ecology. Fellows are competitively selected. They also receive credit for their work and a stipend to support their time as fellows.”
“Other programs including. 'aina momona was the lead coordinating organization for 'onipa'a kakou, an event that took place on january 17th 2018. Though the event itself took place in 2018, the extensive planning and coordinating phases occurred throughout 2017. Executive director walter ritte served as lead coordinator of the overall event, managing several groups and arranging transportation for all school-aged participants. Thousands of people and over 25 organizations attended the event. 'aina momona provided critical support and funding to ahonaulu food and wellness retreat. This group held their first retreat in the fall of 2017, which 'aina momona funded. Through this multi-day retreat, nearly 200 moloka'i community members learned about growing their own micro food systems, preparing their own meals with resources from subsistence resources from the island's sustainability gathered resources, and developing a healthy lifestyle that focuses on healthy communities, healthy ecosystems, and healthy economies.”

THIS GROUP HELD THEIR FIRST RETREAT IN THE FALL OF 2017, WHICH 'AINA MOMONA FUNDED. THROUGH THIS MULTI-DAY RETREAT, NEARLY 200 MOLOKA'I COMMUNITY MEMBERS LEARNED ABOUT GROWING THEIR OWN MICRO FOOD SYSTEMS, PREPARING THEIR OWN MEALS WITH RESOURCES FROM SUBSISTENCE RESOURCES FROM THE ISLAND'S SUSTAINABILITY GATHERED RESOURCES, AND DEVELOPING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE THAT FOCUSES ON HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, HEALTHY ECOSYSTEMS, AND HEALTHY ECONOMIES. |
