All board members are given the conflict of interest policy upon joining the board to review. Board members are required to notify the organization of any conflicts that arise and are not allowed to vote or participate in board matters in which they have a conflict.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management

Education-Plus, Inc.'s top management officials are accountable for ensuring that the organization's mission is carried out at the highest levels of quality, service, and stewardship within the communities Education-Plus, Inc. serves. The Board of Directors determines executive compensation. The CEO's salary was determined based on an independent analysis to help ensure that Education-Plus, Inc.'s compensation levels are reasonable to attract and retain the highest caliber of professionals needed to carry out its mission. Education-Plus, Inc. benchmarks itself against organizations of comparable mission across the region and the nation that are creating and scaling complex education and social sector programs and services. Market data are assembled for all elements of executive compensation (salary, benefits, and perquisites). Furthermore, the compensation levels reflect the scope of each top manager's responsibilities, educational background, experience, and industry standing, as well as individual and organization performance. Also, the top management officials' compensation cannot exceed amounts allowed by grants and contracts. Finally, it is the obligation of a compensation committee to assess the performance of Education-Plus, Inc.'s CEO, determine his/her compensation, and report its finding in this regard to the Board. The committee is also responsible for reviewing and approving the performance assessments and compensation recommendations for the top management positions.

The Organization follows the current accounting principles for uncertain tax positions that require an entity to recognize the tax benefit associated with tax positions taken for tax return purposes when it is more likely than not the position will be sustained. THE CENTER BLENDS THE MODEL OF A CONVENIENT CARE CLINIC FOR FAMILIES WITH THE MEDICAL HOME MODEL TO SERVE AS PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN. THE CLINICAL TEAM IS SUPPORTED BY A COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER WHO WORKS WITH STUDENTS AND FAMILIES TO PROVIDE HEALTH EDUCATION AND SUPPORT ADDRESSING THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH THAT AFFECT HEALTH AND ACADEMIC OUTCOMES, AND A BEHAVIORAL HEALTH COUNSELOR. THIS HOLISTIC PROGRAM CONSISTENTLY FINDS DECREASED ABSENTEEISM AND HOSPITAL BASED PROGRAM PIVOTED IMMEDIATELY TO TELEHEALTH HELPING THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES DURING THIS FISCAL-SCHOOL YEAR THE CLINICS CONTINUED TO PROVIDE COVID TESTING FOR SYMPTONS AND EXPOSURE AND ALSO SOME COVID VACCINE CLINICS. WHILE ALL SCHOOLS WERE OPEN FOR IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION, THERE WERE TIMES THAT SCHOOLS PIVOTED TO VIRTUAL TEMPORARILY DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, IN WHICH CASE THE CLINICS ALSO PIVOTED TO TELEHEALTH.

THROUGH A 21ST CENTURY AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION COLLABORATES WITH THE HOST SCHOOLS TO OFFER A COLLEGE PREPARATION, CREATIVE WRITING, AND STEM PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM WORKS TO INTEGRATE WITH THE SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTER TO BUILD A TOTAL CULTURE OF HEALTH IN THE SCHOOLS. THE PROGRAM CONSISTENTLY FINDS BETTER SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AND ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENTS AMONG YOUTH THAT PARTICIPATE IN THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED TO OPERATE THE ROOM2BREATHE ASTHMA HOME VISITING PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH THE PHILADELPHIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND TWO PEDIATRIC PRACTICES, TEMPLE FACULTY PHYSICIANS AND ST. CHRISTOPHER'S. A TEAM OF FOUR COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS SERVE NEARLY 200 CHILDREN EACH YEAR WITH HOME-BASED EDUCATION AND TRIGGER REDUCTION SERVICES TO IMPROVE ASHMA OUTCOMES, VIRTUAL AS NEEDED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. ALSO THROUGH A COLLABORATION WITH PARTNERS I-LEAD AND HARCUM COLLEGE, THE ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHES SATELLITE OR BLENDED LEARNING SITES AS EXTENSIONS OF HIGH SCHOOLS THEREBY ENSURING THAT COLLEGE IS ACCESSIBLE, NEGOTIATING REDUCED COLLEGE TUITION COSTS TO JUST ABOVE WHAT LOW INCOME STUDENTS CAN LEVERAGE IN FINANCIAL AID GRANTS ENSURING COLLEGE IS AFFORDABLE, AND GRADUATING 75-80% OF ENTERING STUDENTS THROUGH THE DELIVERY OF A SMALL COHORT BOUTIQUE MODEL ENSURING THE COLLEGE IS ACCOUNTABLE. OUR MODEL REACHES OUT TO OVER 50 LOW INCOME STUDENTS PER YEAR THAT ARE EXPECTED TO GRADUATE IN 2.5 TO 3 YEARS WITH 62 CREDITS AND WITH A RETENTION RATE OF 91%, WITH 2 HIGH SCHOOL PARTNERS, AND 3 COLLEGE PARTNERS. THIS PROGRAM CONTINUED VIRTUAL IN 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

The Board of Directors determines executive compensation. The CEO's salary was determined based on an independent analysis to help ensure that Education-Plus, Inc.'s compensation levels are reasonable to attract and retain the highest caliber of professionals needed to carry out its mission. Education-Plus, Inc. benchmarks itself against organizations of comparable mission across the region and the nation that are creating and scaling complex education and social sector programs and services. Market data are assembled for all elements of executive compensation (salary, benefits, and perquisites). Furthermore, the compensation levels reflect the scope of each top manager's responsibilities, educational background, experience, and industry standing, as well as individual and organization performance. Also, the top management officials' compensation cannot exceed amounts allowed by grants and contracts. Finally, it is the obligation of a compensation committee to assess the performance of Education-Plus, Inc.'s CEO, determine his/her compensation, and report its finding in this regard to the Board. The committee is also responsible for reviewing and approving the performance assessments and compensation recommendations for the top management positions.
