Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART I, LINE 6, VOLUNTEERS:

Global response management (grm) was founded by volunteers, responding to the medical needs of the civilians injured during the time of war. Since the organization's beginning, grm has relied upon the vast knowledge of our medical professional volunteers to support and provide quality medical care to the people we serve. As an organization, grm is committed to providing lifesaving care in areas of the world impacted by war, conflict, and disaster. Without the ability to deploy medical professionals willing to volunteer their efforts to respond to areas in need of humanitarian support, grm would be unable to treat patients and save lives around the world. To date, grm has served in 10 countries, and treated over 200,000 patients around the globe. In mexico, grm has been the only touchpoint for healthcare for migrants and asylum seekers on the us-mexico border. In 2022, grm welcomed over 200 volunteers to our mexico clinics, totaling over 11,938 hours and $9,265,876 in in-kind services. Grm volunteer medical professionals lent their expertise at clinics in matamoros and reynosa on a weekly basis. The volunteer program in mexico has been the backbone of the organization. Through the close of 2022, these clinics gave medical professionals a consistent and reliable humanitarian aid program to work with, and our volunteer retention has been indicative of their satisfaction and safety. In ukraine, march-august, 2022, grm ran three successful response initiatives: frontline surgical support and force multiplier, acls medevac, and trauma combat casualty care training for civil defense, conscripted physicians, and other volunteer civilians. Over the course of six months, grm deployed over 75 volunteers to staff and support these initiatives, for a total of 8,182 hours with an in-kind value of $6,323,467. This massive amount of medical expertise donated by hundreds of volunteer clinicians made grm's work in both mexico and ukraine possible, providing free, unconditional and quality medical care to displaced people at no cost to them.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A, PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Global response management (grm) is a veteran-founded, women-led, u.s. Based international 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to deliver emergency medical care and humanitarian relief to vulnerable populations affected by conflict or disaster. We go where others will not do what others cannot. We believe that everyone has the right to the best possible care on the worst day of their life. By combining principles from military, academic, and civilian spheres, we define evidence-based response for high-risk, low-resource environments with an emphasis on direct patient care, capacity building, and innovative partnerships. Grm was founded in mosul, iraq in 2017, during the coalition offensive to take the city back from isis, where veterans of oef and oif saw first-hand the effects of conflict on civilians and took action. Over 9 months, grm operated trauma stabilization points along the front line for families caught in the crossfire, treating almost 10,000 people. Grm's commitment to refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and displaced peoples have driven us to respond to ten countries, treating more than 200,000 people over the last five years. Ukraine - grm's rapid response team responded to the invasion of ukraine on march 3rd, 2022, spending seven months providing front line surgical teams, medevac services and training for more than 1,800 clinicians. At the request of the ukrainian government, grm has partnered with ukraine's center for disaster medicine and who in 2023 and 2024 to provide support and training in the three acute care areas impacting morbidity and mortality resuscitation, burns care, and surgical management of traumatic injuries. Mexico - beginning in 2019, grm has provided medical care and wash solutions in three mexican cities, flexing to meet needs as different crisis points arise and dispatching emergency medical response teams for caravans. Grm maintains its commitment to asylum seekers fleeing conflict, disaster, economic collapse, political persecution, and civil unrest from around the world. Serving as a bellwether for global events, the migrant path through mexico to the us border is one of the most traveled and treacherous. Grm curtailed operations in matamoros in 2022 and tapachula in 2023. Reynosa - over the border from mcallen, texas is reynosa, a city dominated by organized crime syndicates that kidnap, assault and extort migrants and the congregation point for roughly 15,000 asylum seekers and migrants from central america, south america, eastern europe, africa, the caribbean, and many other regions living between an inadequate network of shelter and informal camps in the street. Beginning on 5/24/21, grm opened medical operations in reynosa five days per week operating in multiple locations in order to serve as many people as possible. Grm's capabilities include primary and urgent care, women's health, ob care, covid testing and care, medication distribution, both telehealth and local specialty referral pathways, mental health services, and health consultations pertinent to legal cases. Operations are forecast to continue through 2023, transitioning to a partner organization, refugee health alliance, mid-year, with ongoing grm support. Kurdistan, iraq - grm has had a presence in the northern region of iraq since 2017. In 2021, operations expanded including the establishment of a permanent office and official registration with kri. Grm has partnered with the duhok department of health and azadi hospital system for two major projects: -support for the opening of the first undifferentiated emergency department in kurdistan in 2023. -creation and standardization of emergency medicine as a discipline in kurdistan through a one-year em fellowship in partnership with temple university and university of pennsylvania. Mosul, iraq - mosul general hospital is a short drive from erbil but is located outside of the boundaries of kurdistan and inside of federal iraq. Mosul general has requested training and pr
