All records pursuant to hacker initiative's policy is retained for 10 years and thereafter destroyed by shredding and only upon board notice and resolution. “Hacker initiative, through reviews by the programming committee, awarded grants of 15,067 to 5 grant recipients, of which 7,750 was funded to 3 2022 grant recipients, and another 7,317 was funded as balances of 2021 approved grants . The 2022 projects: openquantum - building a rubidium (radioactive) magneto optical trap ("mot") to trap neutral atoms. Iot-to show vulnerabilities in consumer security devices and to improve security for common consumer devices. Machine learning data sets for trash cans to improve recycling. The programming committee is comprised of all volunteers from the hacker community, the broader community, and some of the board members of hacker initiative. The chair of hacker initiative attends programming committee meetings as an observer and casts no votes or decisions as to whom grant awards are directed to. These recipients included groups, entities, companies (non profits) and individuals who used their funds for projects which directly supported hackers initiative's mission.
