The current Texas public school system struggles with the expectation that every campus is responsible to be excellent for all learners when we know as educators that one size does not fit all. We believe the Thrive model of offering a diverse family of multiple campuses - each with a unique, instructional approach - is a new innovation among the Texas charter school system, and will be a welcomed addition to the Houston-area system of schools by families looking for a better school fit for their children. We are excited to introduce this model and to share our learnings with public educators and families across the state.Our first campus will be The Shawn M. Hurwitz Academy. The mission of Hurwitz Academy is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for students who have not been successful in conventional schools and to help them develop the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to confidently become their highest selves and be prepared for the competitive world beyond. |
