“Part iii - primary exempt purpose world vision describes the situation in honduras as critical. The organization points to the impact of hurricane mitch in 1998 still affecting living conditions. The hurricane killed over 7,000 hondurans, injured another 13,000, and caused $3.8 billion in damage. Nearly one-third of the highway infrastructure was destroyed along with thousands of homes, displacing 1.5 million people. Some officials say it set the already impoverished country back 50 years. It continues to be the second most impoverished country in central america rivaling haiti and parts of africa according to some sources. Just outside of the capital city of tegucigalpa, families live on the side of the hill below the dump in shacks with dirt floors, no running water and no electricity. They spend their days and lives sifting through garbage to find recyclables to sell. If that is not hard enough, they have to pay a portion to the gangs.the country especially large cities like the capital tegucigalpa have extremely high numbers of street children who are turned out by parents who cannot afford or don't want to take care of them. The majority of the children are uneducated, dirty and addicted to huffing glue to curb hunger pains. Most of them come from abusive homes whose families just don't want to take care of them. The gangs target these children to help with their operations. These children, even very young children, are often killed if they refuse to join these powerful street gangs. Hondurans see the street kids as a nuisance and become desensitized after seeing them day after day. There are no social service programs to help the street kids and/or poor families.bridge to honduras will come along side current agencies, churches and other humanitarian organizations within the united states and honduras to serve the homeless, poor, and underprivileged people of honduras. Bridge to honduras primary goal is to provide physical needs, food, occupational and educational services to the children and adults of honduras by making connections between united states organizations or individuals and the needs of those in honduras. To assist in the communication between the two organizations, to help raise funds for specific needs in honduras and help organize short-term ministry trips and foster long term relationships.”
“Part III - Program Service Description Bridge to Honduras primary focus will be religious organizations and individuals that have a desire to provide care, shelter and needs for homeless children, families living in local trash dump communities and prison ministries whose goals are to build and advance "the church" in Honduras. This will be performed through providing short term medical clinics, the building of churches/homes/shelters, visiting those in prison and providing physical needs and food for the underprivileged. Another area specific of focus would be working with mission agencies who are involved with the forgotten and abandoned street children of Honduras who provide food, shelter, clothing and medical attention whose mission is to nurture, disciple, educate and provide vocational training for these children.”

TO ASSIST IN THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS, TO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS IN HONDURAS AND HELP ORGANIZE SHORT-TERM MINISTRY TRIPS AND FOSTER LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS. |
