To empower foster youth into successful adulthood.

| One-to-one mentoring is central to Aging UPs services for youth with experience in foster care. Statistically, former foster youth face disproportionately high rates of homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, and mental health challenges. Yet, research overwhelmingly reveals that a stable and committed relationship with at least one supportive adult buffers the effects of trauma while developing resilience in young people. Therefore, Aging UP recruits, screens, and trains adult volunteers to serve as mentors. Every mentor must pass all screenings and complete 20 hours of trauma-informed, strength-based training before being matched with a youth. To date, we have provided services for 66 unduplicated youth and increased our service age limit to 21.In the fiscal year 2023-2024, volunteer mentoring hours totaled more than 1,100 hours; committee members served nearly 75 hours; professional CPA and bookkeeping services totaled more than 60 hours; logistical event volunteer hours equaled 80; and 40 hours of administrative and program support service were donated. Additional in-kind support includes 62 hours of film production, 20 hours of professional photography services, and 50 hours of website maintenance and graphic design services. Nearly $4,000 of tangible in-kind goods or services were donated. | - | $128,250 |
| Educational Life Skills Workshops are the final element of our trio of services. These UPshops are designed to develop and enhance skills necessary for successful adulthood. During these fun, hands-on workshops, youth learn side-by-side with their mentor and peers. Community experts lead topics that range from college and career readiness to healthy living. Each workshop attendee receives a tangible item related to the topic discussed so they can continue to practice what they have learned. The workshops incorporate interpersonal, practical, and job-readiness skills to aid youth from foster care toward gainful employment and other critical skills for successful adulthood. | - | $35,277 |
| Positive Recreation is the second pillar of our program. Aging UP believes everyone grows through new experiences. Therefore, regularly scheduled group events are held. These meetUPs focus on physical activities, outdoor recreation, creative expression, and unique experiences. They provide a safe space where youth from foster care can enjoy typical adolescent activities within a stigma-free environment. Exposure to new and engaging activities also develops coping techniques and personal growth. | - | $34,109 |
