“The organization raises money to fund musical band(s) of youth in the middle east who play the steel drums. The money goes to pay instructors, buy/repair equipment and travel. The band(s) are comprised of jewish, muslim and christian youth.”

“From jan 2021-may 2021, there was still a considerable amount of covid shut down in israel. We were finally able to send our teacher from trinidad back home as trinidad finally accepted their nationals. With that we engaged one of our alums, safi daeem to teach our students. Safi is very young and very inexperienced as a music educator, but he is a very good musician who learned to play steel drums in our program. We decided that he was our best option at the moment. Safi continues to teach for us currently and i am working with him both in person and on line to improve his teaching skills. In june of 2021 we contracted with a shared society coordinator. Dr. Sami adwan, who is an education professor from the west bank joined our team and held several in person workshops with arab and jewish students. These workshops consisted of students writing about their feelings in regards to playing music and their everyday lives. Lastly, because of the nature of our program which relies on in person student meetings, and because of the fits and starts that accompanied covid outbreaks, the number of students that we saw every week dwindled to about 50.”
