Mission

The Center for U.S. Policy (CUSP) is a non-partisan research and education organization dedicated to enhancing the health, safety, and economic opportunity of all Americans. In 2022, the organization focused heavily on substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, interventions, and treatment. For example, CUSP analyzed the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Ruan v. U.S. and its impacts on SUD prevention and treatment. CUSP also published tips for nonprofits interested in accessing opioid litigation proceeds. Research and analysis: CUSP researched and analyzed COVID-19 public health emergency deregulatory actions, drug poisoning data, state and federal legislation, court filings, case law, medical literature, and news reports to develop numerous original work products on topics ranging from pandemic response to deploying community paramedics to reduce substance misuse. Awareness: CUSP improved awareness of issues and innovative policies and programs by monitoring the news media, specialty publications, and journals, and publishing timely summaries to its website and social media accounts. CUSP's drug policy initiatives included Prescriber Safety, Warm Handoff and Mobile Medical Services, Finding the ME in Treatment, and X the X Waiver. Our public awareness activities also covered the economy, education, justice reform, mental health, pain management, and privacy.$0$31,691
Education and outreach: CUSP circulated its research through numerous medical school and professional society conferences and trainings; networking; and educational webinars. CUSP also disseminated important third-party research, including the work of collaborating not-for-profit organizations and professionals.
