Mission

The foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, leads the charitable and education initiatives of the greater phoenix chamber under the four pillars of education, workforce development, wellness, and research. Through strong alignment between education, business, and community, the foundation prepares individuals for college and career and serves as an intermediary to convey workforce needs and champion scalable workforce solutions. In addition, the foundation makes arizona and the greater phoenix region known as destinations for healthy talent and healthy communities through workplace wellness efforts and publishes data-driven research to inform policymakers, business leaders, and the general public.

The foundation is currently managed under an employee lease agreement with the chamber in which jennifer mellor, chief innovation officer oversees the day to day management. Community relations, marketing, and finance employee services are also leased under the arrangement.

As the single member, greater phoenix chamber of commerce shall approve the elected directors of the foundation and fulfill all duties as may be required under the bylaws, the articles, and the act. Unless provided otherwise, the member will act through its board of directors. No stock or other evidence of ownership of an interest in the foundation shall be issued by this foundation and no pecuniary profit shall be paid to its member.

Legal counsel distributes the conflict of interest policies every june and reviews the submitted annual statements before turning them over to the foundation staff. The staff files these statements in our permanent records. The chambers conflict of interest policy covers directors, officers and members of committees with board-delegated powers. All covered persons have a duty to disclose any actual or possible conflict of interest to the directors or other committee members. In the event of a conflict, the board or committee will meet, discuss and vote upon the transaction or arrangement. The interested person may participate in the discussions on the matter but is prohibited from voting on the matter. The minutes of the board and committee meetings document all disclosures of substantial interests by covered persons.

The greater phoenix chamber foundation (the foundation) leads the charitable and education objectives of the greater phoenix chamber of commerce (gpcc) and promotes economic prosperity and quality of life for the greater phoenix region. The foundation's charitable activities focus on community development, improving health and prosperity for the region. Key initiatives: - workforce development - the foundation serves as a link between industry and education, helping companies address growing workforce needs and providing people access to quality career opportunities. The foundation convenes four employer-led workforce collaboratives in the areas of construction, cybersecurity, financial services and hospitals. - wellness atoz - wellness atoz aims to make arizona and greater phoenix region known as a destination for healthy talent and a healthy community by providing free resources to create or enhance an employee wellness program. Wellness atoz works with companies across arizona to identify key areas in enhancing employee participation in wellness programs, increasing overall employee productivity and satisfaction. - research - in partnership with education and research organizations, the foundation publishes bi-partisan white papers focused on economic and community development. - education - the foundation is launching a new program to create more intentional and impactful business engagement with education. The foundation is currently partnering with phoenix union high school to develop a business engagement strategy that will allow students to explore various career pathways through broader career awareness, aligned curriculum and more meaningful work-based learning.

Wellness atoz aims to make arizona and the greater phoenix region known as a destination for healthy talent and a healthy community through free toolkits that provide resources for creating or enhancing an employee wellness program. Wellness atoz works with companies located in the greater phoenix region and across arizona to identify key areas in enhancing employee participation in wellness programs, driving down costs associated with unhealthy lifestyles and increasing overall employee productivity and satisfaction. After two year in existence, wellness atoz has partnered with over 200 arizona-based companies and positively impacted more than 400,000 employees. Wellness atoz is a resource that can help a company launch a wellness program, but also complements and enhances existing wellness programs by highlighting best practices and offering free tools. By encouraging companies to embody the wellness atoz pillars of eatwell, playwell, livewell and workwell, wellness atoz creates meaningful content that is useful to anyone, regardless of age, race, gender, financial status or ability level. In addition, wellness atoz launched it's spanish version por tu salud to expand the reach of wellness into the spanish speaking community. As a part of the workwell pillar, the foundation hosts quarterly forums to bring employers from all different industries together to discuss best practices surrounding employee wellness. Ideas are gathered, challenges are addressed and competitors work together for the greater good of the community. Each forum hosts 60 and 80 human resources professionals, impacting over 300,000 employees state-wide. In an effort to reach the community at large, the foundation organizes and executes the wellness wonders of arizona, which is an activity-based challenge underneath the playwell initiative. The bi-annual challenge highlights the unique features that make arizona a beautiful place to live, play and work. Wellness atoz is the foundation's initiative to attract and retain talent by making arizona known as a destination for healthy living and through several key programs, wellness atoz has reached a diverse population in the greater phoenix region.

The foundation serves as a link between industry and education, helping companies address growing workforce needs and providing people access to quality career opportunities. In total, the workforce collaboratives engage with over 300 arizona employers, focusing on enhanced career awareness, improved educational alignment and new opportunities for workplace learning. Key workforce development successes include partnering with maricopa county community college district to offer training for financial services careers through the securities industries essentials credential; securing 5.8 million in funding from the legislature to fund needed infrastructure for maricopa county community colleges to support new programs, creating new training programs for specialty nursing; launching apprenti arizona, an apprenticeship program for mid-level it and cybersecurity careers; and preparing to launch build your future arizona, a career awareness campaign to promote careers in construction.
