“Form 990-ez, part iii program service accomplishments:ecoworks international (ewi) is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 to confront persistent poverty with effective, efficient and sustainable solutions designed to meet the needs of the individual, the family and the community. We focus on economic opportunities and growth which we strengthen with programs in health, education, empowerment of women and the remediation and preservation of natural resources such as water, topsoil and the natural habitat of plants and wild creatures. Our mission is to work with people who live in entrenched poverty and provide them with opportunities to realize their full potential.talia farms' current projectstalia farms is the long-term, comprehensive socio-economic program for the revitalization and growth of the lake azue region where ewi began working in 2009, prior to the earthquake. Upon completing all projects related to the 2010 earthquake and its aftermath, ewi has resumed work on talia farms. Its business plan has been completed in december 2015 and submitted for funding and partnership to several entities.three talia farms projects are being implemented without delay as they are vital and urgent. Women's literacy: a one-year course to teach non-literate rural women how to read, write and do basic math. Since it takes one year to reach a fair level of literacy, this project was started may 30th 2015 and the women will graduate in may 2016. This first cadre of women will be further trained in leadership skills and will sit on the board of talia farms agricultural cooperatives. It is crucial to establish from the start that women will occupy half of the seats on the board and will participate equally in all important decisions concerning the community. Women's voices and choices are at the invaluable resource to build strong and successful communities. Youth-at-risk: unemployment among young people in our region is 90%. They are energetic, frustrated, bored and looking for trouble - which they find - to make the world notice they exist. They want a vocational training program that will improve their chances of employment. Their first task is to set-up a nonprofit organization they will run and which will partner with ewi's talia farms to establish the vocational center. The process of empowering these young people will take time for they need to learn to trust and to take charge within structured parameters. Feed-a-child is a pilot project to bring concrete solutions to the problem of severe malnutrition among young children and pregnant women. If not treated on-time, it results in permanent stinted physical and mental development which condemns the children to a life of poverty for they become unable to take care of themselves. It can also result in death. Feed-a-child will serve 100 children, 100 pregnant women and 100 newborns in the five communes ('counties') talia farms serves. This one-year pilot program offers treatment, training, support services and will collect data to evaluate the project and plan its expansion accordingly. Ewi received a matching grant from oecd's war on hunger group to launch the project.”
