BOTH LEGISLATIVE BILLS HAVE CLOSE TO 1 BILLION DOLLARS IN DRINKING WATER AND WASTEWATER FUNDING, AS WELL AS TARGETED FUNDING FOR DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES (DACS) WITH CONTAMINATED DRINKING WATER. STAFF TESTIFIED IN SUPPORT OF BOTH BILLS IN POLICY COMMITTEES. CWC CONTINUED LOBBYING FOR THE DRINKING WATER PROGRAM TRANSFER IN THE LEGISLATURE. WE WORKED WITH ALLIES TO CONTINUE TO EDUCATE LEGISLATIVE OFFICES ON THE NEED TO TRANSFER THE PROGRAM IN THE 2014-2015 CA BUDGET. FURTHER, CWC WORKED WITH ALLIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS TO PROPOSE AMENDMENTS ON SEVERAL DRINKING WATER AND DAC RELATED LEGISLATIVE BILLS. CWC WORKED WITH LEGISLATIVE STAFF AND ADVOCATES TO AMEND LANGUAGE IN TWO WATER BOND PROPOSALS AB 1331 (RENDON) AND SB 848 (PAVLEY). CWC MET WITH AND EMAILED, LEGISLATIVE AND COMMITTEE STAFF MEMBERS ON PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO THE DRINKING WATER CHAPTERS OF THE BONDS. CWC WORKED WITH LEGISLATIVE STAFF AND ADVOCATES ON AMENDMENTS TO PROPOSED GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT LEGISLATION AB 1739 (DICKINSON) AND SB 1168 (PAVLEY). CWC ALSO HELPED DRAFT RELATED FACT SHEETS AND MET WITH LEGISLATIVE OFFICES ON GROUNDWATER ISSUES EJ/ ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITY PRINCIPALS. CWC CONTINUED LOBBYING THE LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT THE ADMINISTRATION'S PROPOSAL TO TRANSFER DRINKING WATER PROGRAM FROM CDPH TO THE STATE WATER BOARD. CWC WORKED WITH ALLIES, MET WITH THE LEGISLATIVE OFFICES IN THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, AS WELL AS WITH LEADERSHIP STAFF. FURTHER, CWC ALSO HELPED WORKED WITH THE OFFICES OF SENATORS LARA AND HUESO TO HELP ADVOCATE FOR THE CREATION OF THE OFFICE OF SUSTAINABLE WATER SOLUTIONS AS PART OF THE DRINKING WATER PROGRAM TRANSFER. CWC WORKED WITH ALLIES TO SUPPORT, OPPOSED AND OR DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO DRINKING WATER RELATED BILL. CWC PROVIDED LETTERS OF SUPPORT AND/OR PROVIDED SUPPORTIVE PUBLIC TESTIMONY IN POLICY COMMUNITIES FOR THE FOLLOWING BILLS: AB1434 (YAMADA), AB 1249 (SALAS), AND AB 371 (SALAS). CWC ALSO ACTIVELY OPPOSED AB2453 (ACHIJADAN) BY SIGNING ON A LETTER OF OPPOSITION AND PROPOSING AMENDMENTS TO THE BILL. IN THE THIRD QUARTER 2014, CWC LOBBYING ACTIVITIES FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON LOBBYING LEGISLATORS AND THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ON GROUND WATER LEGISLATION; THE WATER BOND; AND A VARIETY OF DRINKING WATER RELATED LEGISLATIVE BILLS.
