The board has members who control or are employed by area financial institutions, law firms, consulting firms and various other business enterprises. Throughout the year, various officers, directors, trustees and key employees have business relations with these organizations in the normal course of their business and personal lives.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 3

Cddc has contracted with nai ohio equities llc realtors for this company to manage properties owned by cddc. Further, through its related entity, capitol south, the organization contracts with resourcing edge, to perform workforce management services, including payroll services, administration of benefit and workers' compensation plans, and management of human resource processes. Finally, cddc hires general contractors to manage the day-to-day work on its construction projects, such as the cosi/amnh and veteran's memorial projects.

FORM 990, PART I, LINE 1, DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION MISSION:

Cddc continues with the implementation of the strategic business plan developed with community input and promulgated by the mayor and city council. These efforts include the renovation of a former downtown department store into premier office and retail space, development of downtown parks through the oversight of the scioto mile park and the scioto greenways project, the construction of a new national veterans memorial and museum and the development of the downtown scioto peninsula.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

On april 7, 2020, the organization assigned its membership interest in nvmm holdings, ltd., to the national veterans memorial and museum operating corporation (nvmmoc). As a result of this assignment, nvmmoc became the sole member of nvmm holdings, ltd., and, thus, the operations of the museum was transferred from this organization to nvmmoc.

Which oversees the audit process, ultimately approving the audited financial statements and presenting them to the board. This committee also coordinates the process for the selection of the independent accountant. This process remains unchanged from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The scioto mile endowment fund was established in 2007 by cddc to provide assistance with operational maintenance and programming costs of the scioto mile park. The national veterans memorial and museum major maintenance and capital endwoment fund was established in 2019 to provide for major maintenance and capital costs of the national veterans memorial and museum.

PART X, LINE 2:

The corporation is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. The corporation has adopted the provisions of the fasb accounting standards codification relating to uncertain tax positions. The corporation does not believe its financial statements include any uncertain tax positions.

THESE EFFORTS INCLUDE THE RENOVATION OF A FORMER DOWNTOWN DEPARTMENT STORE INTO PREMIER OFFICE AND RETAIL SPACE, DEVELOPMENT OF DOWNTOWN PARKS THROUGH THE OVERSIGHT OF THE SCIOTO MILE PARK AND THE SCIOTO GREENWAYS PROJECT, THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW NATIONAL VETERANS MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DOWNTOWN SCIOTO PENINSULA. NATIONAL VETERANS MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM (NVMM) THE PROJECT'S DESIGN WAS COMPLETED AND CONSTRUCTION COMMENCED IN LATE 2015. CONSTRUCTION OF THE MUSEUM WAS COMPLETED IN MID-2018. A GRAND OPENING FEATURING LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEADERS WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 27, 2018.IN 2020 THE PROGRAMMING AND ACTIVITIES OF THE NVMM INCLUDED EVENTS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL HOLIDAYS, MILITARY ANNIVERSARIES AND SERVICE CELEBRATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE MUSEUM HOSTED TEMPORARY EXHIBITS FOR THE GI BILL AND AN HONORARY EXHIBIT OF THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF BOB HOPE. THE MUSEUM PROVIDED NUMEROUS GROUP TOURS FOR VETERAN GROUPS, SCHOOL AGED STUDENTS, SCOUT TROOPS AND PACKS AND SENIOR CITIZEN GROUPS. THE MUSEUM PRODUCED MEDIA RELEASES AND CONDUCTED ON AIR INTERVIEWS TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF THE MUSEUM AND ITS MISSION AS WELL AS TO EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT THE VETERAN EXPERIENCE. THE MUSEUM COLLABORATED WITH THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY TO DEVELOP AN ACCREDITED LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.ON APRIL 7, 2020, THE CORPORATION ASSIGNED ITS MEMBERSHIP INTEREST IN NVMM HOLDINGS, LTD. TO NATIONAL VETERANS MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM OPERATING CORPORATION (NVMMOC), AN INDEPENDENT 501C3 CORPORATION.SCIOTO PENINSULA IN 2016, CDDC ENTERED INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CENTER OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY (COSI) AND THE AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY (AMNH) TO BRING AMNH EXHIBITS TO COSI. CDDC MANAGED CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW EXHIBIT SPACE, WHICH OPENED IN NOVEMBER 2017. CDDC'S FUNDING COMMITMENT FOR THE AMNH EXHIBITS CONTINUED THROUGH 2020.IN NOVEMBER 2018, CDDC'S SUBSIDIARY SP HOLDINGS ENTERED INTO SEPARATE PURCHASE, SALE AND DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENTS WITH THREE DEVELOPERS FOR DEVELOPMENT SITES ON SCIOTO PENINSULA PROPERTY THE CORPORATION AND SP HOLDINGS ARE LEASING FROM THE CITY. THE SALES OF THESE SITES WERE COMPLETED IN SEPTEMBER 2020. PHASE 1 OFFICE, RESIDENTIAL AND HOTEL SITES ARE EXPECTED TO OPEN IN 2022.PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE REMAINING COMPONENTS OF THE SCIOTO PENINSULA MASTER PLAN WILL CONTINUE INTO 2021 AND BEYOND.
