“The joanne watford nutrition center provided groceries for well-balanced fresh, frozen and non-perishable meals to 19,380 people. The nutrition center enables qualifying clients to shop for and select food items based on the family's nutrition needs. As part of the senior food program, 125 low income seniors received supplemental groceries monthly. More than 800 families received thanksgiving meal and food for a week and more than 1,000 families received the same for the december holidays. As a result of our participation in the houston food bank retail pick-up program, we received 170,973 pounds of goods. Additionally, the red barrel program provided 1,302 bags of food. The interfaith homeless network partnered with nineteen host congregations to provide 31 families with 17 move-in kits, 39 furniture referrals, 9 misc. Items and/or 6,412.75 rent and utility deposits dedicating a total of 1,173 volunteer hours while providing 3,695 i&r calls. Coordinted access assessed 443 homelessfamilies for housing and employment opportunities.”
“The family violence center (fvc) provided crisis intervention, safety planning, adult and children's counseling, emergency shelter, legal advocacy and education to 5,589 individuals; while answering more than 7,400 calls from those in crisis. The fvc also participated in a pilot housing program for domestic violence victims, housing 44 families in the first-half of 2017. 1,105,476 through the learning center a total of 322 students attended esl and ged classes and 63 individuals attended financial literacy classes. Under the thrive grant the learning center provided career and vocational training resources to over 1,000 individuals attending the career fair. OF THOSE SERVED, 117 PEOPLE RECEIVED HELP WITH RENT OR MORTGAGE TO PREVENT HOMELESSNESS. UNDER THE THRIVE GRANT THE LEARNING CENTER PROVIDED CAREER AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING RESOURCES TO OVER 1,000 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDING THE CAREER FAIR.
