Write Brains consist of a special writing topic in a classroom environment with a guest speaker. In addition, we host Writer's Night on the fourth Monday of each month to encourage mentorship, discussion, and networking of writers, and a monthly Open Critique night every first Wednesday of the month to give writers valuable feedback on their work. We host a free monthly writing workshop called Write Drunk Edit Sober. It's held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. The basic format is improv writing followed by discussion of critical techniques useful in unpacking improv responses in order to further develop them. We presented these monthly events using Zoom. We had a fair amount of participation in those events. We communicate to writers via Facebook and Twitter accounts in addition to our blog which can be accessed via our website. Our website contains information about our events including our annual conference and contest, as well as our board of directors. We created a new Facebook account called Pikes Peak Writers Connect to facilitate discussion throughout the writing community and continue to publicize our events on our Pikes Peak Writers Facebook page. We also offer an email-based loop for discussion and dissemination of information. Something new: We gathered together a team of approximately five people to edit and produce our second Pikes Peak Writers Anthology called Journeys to be published in 2023. As the sponsoring entity responsible for the annual Pikes Peak Writers Conference, we held our first in person conference after the C0VID-19 pandemic. The theme was Meet Set Your Goal. The conference was held in our new venue, the DoubleTree hotel in south Colorado Springs. Attendees had the option to attend in person or virtually online through Zoom. We offered the same education framework from past years including beginning through advanced workshops and panels. Participants also had the opportunity to pitch their work to agents and have their work critiqued by industry professionals. We are proud to say, the conference was a success. We are happy with our new venue and plan to grow our organization to take advantage of the extra space it provides.--

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0As part of our programming, we aim to present monthly programs. This includes our Write Brains on the third Tuesday of every month.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1As the sponsoring entity responsible for the annual Pikes Peak Writers Conference, we held our first in person conference after the C0VID-19 pandemic. We are happy with our new venue and plan to grow our organization to take advantage of the extra space it provides.
