Governance Explanations

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

The form 990 is prepared by a cpa who is experienced with non-profit organizations. A draft is sent to the members of the board, allowing time for their review; during this time questions can be raised with the preparer. Once all questions have been answered, and any necessary changes have been made, the form 990 is e-filed. When the 990 has been accepted, a copy of the acceptance and final return are sent to the board.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

When the ceo was hired, his salary was determined based on comparable salaries. He has an annual review with the board each year to determine his salary for the following year.

Form 990

Part ix - expenses line 24e each quarter, expenses in the admin and development classes are compiled. These totals are then distributed by journal entry, using percentages, to more truly show the impact of these expenses on the programs, management and general, and fundraising expenses of mrn.

Form 990, Page 1, Part I, Line 6

Volunteers assist with the set-up, assistance during and tear-down of the annual benefit dinner. The volunteer members of the board provide leadership and support for the operations of missions resource network.

Form 990, Part III

Initiate, continued. - bengal initiative - in bengal, mrn has identified 3 partner organizations (flint global, pioneer bible translators, agape asia). For 2023, 1 couple was in the training pipeline, 100 emerging leaders are in training, an additional 135 people of peace have been identified, 17 unreached people groups (upgs) are being contacted, and there are 114 new discovery bible study groups. A total of 85 new churches have been planted, 105 baptisms were celebrated, and 5 businesses are being sustained by movement leaders with the aid of flint global. The 3 major components of the bengal initiative are 1.transform east alliance disciple making movement(dmm) expansion into 5 northern indian states, 2. New entry point for buddhist dmm, and 3. Explore filipino diaspora near-culture strategy. - mediterranean rim initiative (mri) - mrn directly assisted 29 workers across 6 countries. In 2023, 2 american families (4 workers) prepared to launch, and 2 single women and 1 greek family were in training while working in the region. There were disciples in at least 13 countries and 23 house churches were started. During 2023, mri's main goal was to launch 7 teams (units) into the region: 1 team was launched in the uk, 1 team is maintaining their "base" stateside due to a border skirmish, 2 teams have added workers to or re-committed to their teams, 1 team is forming and hoping to launch in 2024, and 1 team is already on the field but being assessed/prepared as a mri worker. - atlantic bridge initiative (abi) - during 2023, 2 trips were conducted with 10 african american leaders going to africa. These leaders assisted african churches with church equipping and connections. 11 african american churches are involved in some level of networking with mrn in african missions. Currently, abi's main goal is to catalyze a ministry for racial unity and partnership between african and african american churches that can grow to 20 african american churches involved in global missions in collaboration with mrn by 2025. 10% of the domestic churches mrn works with by 2025 should be african american churches. Empower, continued - prayer coordination - during 2023, hundreds of people read mrn's monthly prayer articles on its website. In addition, three prayer challenges were held during 2023 with 467 people joining the ramadan and buddhist prayer challenge. They provided opportunities for initiative-based missionaries to grow in their capacity for prayer by hosting a worker-retreat in the spring and also by leading 8 mri workers on the camino de santiago as a prayer retreat in september.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Empower: mrn connects and equips existing ministries and churches where the church is established to expand their impact by providing re-visioning, training, networking, coaching, and care. Church equipping (ce) - ce provides equipping and coaching to partnering churches and those seeking to grow in their mission ministry. In 2023, they provided assistance to 31 churches, and are asking god for an additional 20 churches to equip. A new director for church relations was hired in 2023. The listening group process that was begun is on hold allowing the new director time to connect with church leaders and evaluate the effectiveness and needed changes in this area. See also sch. O
