“The form 990 is prepared by an outside cpa. Upon completion, the form 990 is reviewed by the president/ceo. Upon approval it is filed electronically with the internal revenue service.”
“The conflict of interest policy covers the directors of the organization and those related to them. Any conflict of interest is reported immediately in writing to the foundation chair, the secretary, and the ceo. The individual involved in the conflict may not participate in any discussion related to the conflict. The board, not including the person with the conflict, votes on whether or not to approve the transaction.”
“The isf has a personnel and compensation committee that meets regularly to determine compensation of the executive director. Once the committee determines the compensation for the executive director, using reference materials from other nonprofits (including guidestar's compensation guide), they must present their findings and their recommendation to the compensation and personnel committee for approval. This committee is comprised of the compensation and personnel chair, the board chair, the incoming chair, and the immediate past chair. Minutes from every meetings and research is well documented and updated every year.”
“The financial statements, conflict of interest policy and governing documents are available upon request.”

“Irving schools foundation (isf) provides financial resources to maximize educational opportunities for teachers and students in irving independent school district. The organiation has different programs to accomplish this goal. Food for thought to help ensure irving isd students are equipped for success, we team up with community businesses and organizations to collect and distribute food to students in need. Our goal is to eliminate hunger among the students of irving isd. C2c store community to classroom store - the store without a cash register - for irving staff to come and get free supplies throughout the year. Free school supplies, backpacks, and uniforms are just some of the items offered. Supplies for success isf partners with the community to collect backpacks and school supplies each year for the neediest students in the district. Those families are invited to attend an annual back to school event to receive free school supplies, dental and vision screenings, immunizations, and the opportunity to meet over 40 agencies who provide programs and services. Caring & sharing the community is invited to participate in an annual tradition to help students in need during the holiday season. Each year, isf partners with five irving isd programs who serve the neediest students in our community. Anti-bullying week each year, isf strives to provide a framework and resources for the iisd students to reinforce an anti-bullying culture. We are intentional in sponsoring a campaign that conveys the great value of each student, reinforces that words, choices, and actions have an impact beyond the moment, and provided targeted education for both students and teachers. Scholarships the organization awards college and continuing education scholarships to irving isd seniors and district employees. The immediate and long-term benefit of the isf scholarship program is remarkable - many students who have won scholarships have gone on to impressive academic and professional careers.”
“The foundation's endowments consist of several individual funds established to provide scholarships and grants to the teachers, students, and campuses of the irving independent school district. The endowments include both donor-endowment funds and funds designated by the foundation board of directors to function as endowments. As required by us gaap, net assets associated with endowment funds, including funds designated by the foundation board of directors to function as endowments, are classified and reported based on the existence or absence of donor imposed restrictions. The foundation board of directors has interpreted the uniform prudent management of insitutional funds act (upmifa) as requiring the preservation of the fair value of the original gift as of the gift date of the donor- restricted endowment funds absent explicit donor restrictions to the contrary. As a result of this interpretation, the foundation classifies as permanently restricted net assets (a) the original value of gifts donated to the permanent endowment, (b) the original value of subsequent gifts to the permanent endowment, (c) accumulations to the permanent endowment made in accordance with the direction of the applicable donor gift instrument at the time the accumulation is added to the fund. The remaining portion of the donor-restricted endowment fund that is not classified as temporarily restricted net assets until those amounts are appropriated for expenditures by the organization in a manner consistent with the standard of prudence prescribed by upmifa. In accordance with upmifa, the foundation considers the following factors in making a determination to appropriate or accumulate donor-restricted endowment fund: (1) the duration and preservation of the fund (2) the purposes of the organization and the donor-restricted endowment fund (3) general economic conditions (4) the possible effect of inflation and deflation (5) the expected total return from income and the appreciation of investments (6) other resources of the organization (7) the investment policies of the organization”
“The foundation is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, except to the extent it has unrelated business income. For the years ended december 31, 2024 and 2023, the foundation had no material net unrelated business income. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is reflected in the accompanying financial statements. The foundation has concluded that it does not have any unrecognizable tax benefits resulting from the current or prior period tax positions. Accordingly, no additional disclosures have been made on the financial statements regarding asc 740, income taxes. The foundation had outstanding interest and penalties of approximately 1,300 and unpaid social security tax payments of approximately 2,000 at december 31, 2022. These amounts were repaid in 2023. The foundation's informational returns filed are generally subject to examination for three years after the later of the due date or date of filing. As a result, the foundation is no longer subject to income tax examinations by tax authorities for years prior to 2021.”
