Mission

The Panhandle Crisis Center is a community-based organization for victims of family violence and sexual assault. Our primary purpose is to help, shelter, and support victims of family violence and to eliminate violence within the family. The ultimate goals of Panhandle Crisis Center are:-Provide adequate quality of protection, shelter and other servies for all victims of family violence and sexual assualt who need such services. -Provide short-term counseling and emotional support for victims of family violence and sexual assault. -Help empower victims of family violence and sexual assault to become and remain self-supporting and self-sufficient. -Promote public awareness and understanding of victims of family violence and sexual assault and provide appropriate referrals to the violent family member.

To help, shelter, and support victims of family violence and sexual assault and to eliminate violence within the family.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

Income Tax Status Panhandle Crisis Center, Inc. qualifies as an organization exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is subject to a tax on income from any unrelated business, as defined by Section 509(a)(1) of the Code. The Organization currently has no unrelated business income. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes has been recorded.The Organization has adopted the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by generally accepted accounting principles. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examinations by taxing authorities. The Organization has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and all state jurisdictions where it operates. The Organization believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on the Organizations financial condition, results of operations, or cash flows. Accordingly, the Organization has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at August 31, 2022.Federal and state income tax statutes dictate that tax returns filed in any of the previous three reporting periods remain open to examination. Currently, the Organization has no open examinations with the Internal Revenue Service.

Services include 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency family violence shelter for victims and their children, individual and group counseling, food, clothing, financial assistance, and legal advocacy. Public education programs are also provided to businesses, organizations, churches, schools, and other interested groups on subjects of domestic violence or sexual assault. 280 adults and children were served face-to-face in 2021-2022 and 443 educational programs were provided to the public in Ochiltree, Hansford, and Lipscomb Counties reaching 33,633 individuals.

IRS990/MissionDesc0The Panhandle Crisis Center is a community-based organization for victims of family violence and sexual assault. Our primary purpose is to help, shelter, and support victims of family violence and to eliminate violence within the family. The ultimate goals of Panhandle Crisis Center are:-Provide adequate quality of protection, shelter and other servies for all victims of family violence and sexual assualt who need such services. -Provide short-term counseling and emotional support for victims of family violence and sexual assault. -Help empower victims of family violence and sexual assault to become and remain self-supporting and self-sufficient. -Promote public awareness and understanding of victims of family violence and sexual assault and provide appropriate referrals to the violent family member.
