IRS990/Desc0The Cathedral Center operates an emergency shelter with the capacity of providing temporary shelter to 32 individual women and 8 families each night - with an additional capacity for 10 women in our cot based overflow shelter during periods of extreme weather. Additional emergency and transitional housing services are provided at a 2nd location, at the Friendship House. This location has the capacity to provide emergency housing services for up to 8 families and 4 women each night. Case management services are provided to those residing in shelter, emergency & transitional housing, as well as those who are temporarily stabilized in the community via our community case management and outreach services.CCI measures success based on the accomplishment of goals related to income, housing and personal skills, as well as removal of potential barriers to identified goals. In 2016, CCI served 539 households in all of our combined programs - 766 individuals. Our team was successful in aiding 72% of shelter families, 60% of unaccompanied women in shelter, as well as 64% of community families and 79% of community singles to avoid shelter via securing safe housing. Friendship House accepted their first residents in late October 2016, with housing placements taking place in 2017.We are proud to report that CCI staff has been successful in responding to a higher needs population, while sustaining success in safe placement rates, with 58% of all shelter households leaving shelter to safe placements - of which 21% moved directly to permanent/independent housing. As well, 19% of single women and 34% of shelter families increased their income during their stay with CCI. Of the families in the community, 50% increased their income - as well as 36% of single women in the community. Finally, but not of least significance, community case management services aided 47% of families and 21% of single women in avoiding a shelter stay altogether.

IRS990/MissionDesc0To provide a safe environment for women and families, while working to end homelessness, one life at a time. The Cathedral Center serves women and families who are homeless or experiencing a housing crisis. Clients served primarily come from the Milwaukee County area, though services are extended to those from the tri-county area - and even some from out of state. Unaccompanied women and families with dependent children (including married couples, single fathers and single mothers) are provided emergency shelter services, as well as case management services which include a comprehensive assessment, independence planning, supportive services such as mental health and addictions assessments and brief intervention, as well as outreach to homeless families and linkages with services in the community.
