IRS990/Desc0The Cathedral Center operates an emergency shelter with the capacity of providing temporary shelter to 32 individual women and 8 families each night - with an additional capacity for 10 women in our cot based overflow shelter during periods of extreme weather. Case management services are provided to those residing in the shelter, as well as those who are temporarily stabilized in the community via our community case management and outreach services. CCI measures success based on the accomplishment of goals related to income, housing and personal skills, as well as removal of potential barriers to identified goals. In 2015, CCI served 578 households in all of our combined programs - 824 individuals. Our team was successful in aiding 81% of shelter families, 59% of unaccompanied women in shelter, as well as 65% of community families and 72% of community singles to avoid shelter via securing safe housing. We are proud to report that CCI staff has been successful in responding to a higher needs population, while sustaining success in safe placement rates, with 29% of all shelter households served moving directly to permanent/independent or transitional housing upon exit and an additional 33% placed in alternate safe settings more appropriate to their needs. The overall rate of safe placement, which includes alternate shelters was 61%. As well, 17% of single women and 47% of shelter families increased their income during their stay with CCI. Of the families in the community, 29% increased their income - as well as 26% of single women in the community. Finally, but not of least significance, community case management services aided 36 families and 29 single women in avoiding a shelter stay altogether. An additional 3 families who did utilize shelter, were aided in keeping their stay to under 3 days.

IRS990/MissionDesc0To provide a safe environment for women and families, while working to end homelessness, one life at a time. The Cathedral Center serves women and families who are homeless or experiencing a housing crisis. Clients served primarily come from the Milwaukee County area, though services are extended to those from the tri-county area - and even some from out of state. Unaccompanied women and families with dependent children (including married couples, single fathers and single mothers) are provided emergency shelter services, as well as case management services which include a comprehensive assessment, independence planning, supportive services such as mental health and addictions assessments and brief intervention, as well as outreach to homeless families and linkages with services in the community.
