“Exhibition of innovative contemporary art by local emerging & mid-career artists for the purpose of promoting their work and providing educational programs including a forum for new art forms. Featured exhibitions consisted of: picking up the pieces-artwork on hurricane harvey, ben is sleeping, manami ishimura-sublimation and k space art studio holiday extravaganza. These exhibitions were attended or visited by approximately 20,000 people. The third coast national biennial juried competition ran from september 7 to october 5 which selected works from artists across the usa to showcase in the exhibitions. It was participated in by 1,757 people. Contemporary art month was held during april with 399 artists and 44 businesses participating along with local art organizations and colleges. Artwork was installed in businesses all over the city to promote local artists. An estimated 15,000 people viewed the artwork.”

“Cultural events are held to promote culture through the work of local artists, musicians and performers and to make it accessible to the general public. The dia de los muertos festival held oct 27th is an outdoor festival that covered 10 city blocks and featured demonstrations by the art departments of local colleges, an art exhibition, educational workshops, an art expo with arts & craft vendors, food vendors and musicians and other performers. The festival was attended by an estiamted 30,000 people. An altar exhibition was created at the ritz theater by 6 local youth groups and 3 artists. Approximately 560 visitors left messages for deceased loved ones on the rememberance wall which was visited by approx. 9,005 people. The loteria corpus christi public mural phase 2, opened october 2nd with 1,591 in attendance, was created by 30 south texas artists on a downtown building wall and is available for viewing by the general public. An estimated 30,000-40,000 people will view the mural annually.”

“Educational programs offer opportunity to anyone interested in learning about art as well as those trying to improve their art skills. The art education outreach programs ran from january through june and were attended by close to 2,815 students and seniors. The programs bring hands-on multi-disciplinary art projects and performances into k-12 classrooms and senior retirement centers. A summer art camp for 150 local youth ages 11-16 was held during june and july and offered classes in mural arts, cultural dance, drawing, painting, and papier mache. Gallery lectures, demonstrations and workshops are held thoughout the year by exhibiting artists and available to all ages. "art in the garden" was started in 2017 as an outreach partnership with grow local stx learning garden. "art in literacy" was started in 2018 as an outreach partnership with la retama central library. "kids' creative circle" was started in 2017 as an outreach partnership with women's shelter of south texas.”
